Rakeem Brookins a 5'10" point guard from Roman Catholic HS in Philadelphia lists Georgia Tech, Georgetown, Clemson, Stanford, Princeton, Brown, Penn, James Madison, George Mason, Drexel, William & Mary, Delaware, St. Joseph’s, Temple, La Salle, Virginia, and Virginia Commonwealth. He said he has offers from Penn, George Mason, Delaware, and Virginia Commonwealth and that Penn led for his services. But Georegtown remains as his "dream school."

i dont forsee us needing to recruit another point guard next year. we need big men.

Brookins picked up an offer from La Salle yesterday at Reebok All American Camp. He's really more of an undersized SG than a PG. Check my site for plenty of info since I've seen him somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 or more times.

You guys must like PGs though. Cederick Lindsay from Gonzaga (DC) said you offered and he has visited. Other offers and visits from Richmond and PSU. Additional offer from Brown and interest from Davidson. I really like Lindsay. Super quick, great body control and an outstanding finisher. He can pass and shoot too.

Recruit Recon,

I enjoy the recruitrecon.com site. Very informative and usually up to date on all CAA recruits. I know your not in the business of speculating as to who will sign where. But could you help us and provide a list of big men we are recruiting for next year?

I know you said a few weeks ago we were looking at Anthony Lee from Florida (I believe he is 6'10). Are we also interested in Josh Henderson from Cave Springs, Va? Also, have you seen Cady Lalanne from Florida play? Another one of our intelligent RamNation members found an article stating we are interested in him.

Thanks for posting!

We shouldn't use our two or three scholarships for next year on anybody under 6'8"

I agree. But it almost makes me wonder is someone on the team isn't happy and ready to quit. Maybe there is a reason, unknown to us, that will require us to recruit another PG/SG.

I figured if somebody wasn't happy they would have left, but I guess like he did Joey Smart might have talked them into giving him a year.

Exactly. This is now a veteran team with a lot of guys who have already burned more than half their eligibility.

We have eight perimeter players for next season (2009-2010), ALL of them non-seniors.

J-Rod
I-Gray
B-Roz
E-Nix
B-Burg
T-Dan
D-The
J-Gav

I suspect one of them will redshirt this season. As for the other seven, it's possible that, at the conclusion of the 2009-2010 season, one (or more) of them may be unhappy (likely due to playing time). There's just no way to keep that many perimeter kids happy............particularly when none of them are seniors (i.e. no one will be scheduled to leave after 2009-2010).

In some cases, the low guy on the totem pole leaves (see Franck Ndongo, Drew Johnson, Myk Brown, Mark Adams, etc)..........this usually frees up a scholly (somewhat unexpectedly).

The staff, right now, may just be doing what a lot of staffs do.............looking at players JUST IN CASE and perhaps even offering (if they feel a particular recruit is worth it)...........and then they'll sort things out (scholly-wise) in April/May if there's an (overcommitment of scholarships) issue.

No question though............the recruiting emphasis HAS to be, and likely still is, on "bigs."

ok along that point I have a question. We have two open schollies for next year, but we have, from what the recruiting web sites show, offered way more than two schollies. What happens if we get 4-5 guys take us up on our offer?

I guess the first two that sign get the spots but Scout does show us with 7 or 8 outstanding offers. Just hope one of the people signing is Damontre Harris

We always offer more than we have-unless the coaches change their mind, its first come first serve or an opportunity to put pressure on a kid to commit.

BTW, TT Carey from Colonial Beach committed to Lasalle yesterday.

Hmmm, every time I brought his name up folks kept saying he wasn't a D-1 prospect. Interesting.
