I thought it could be fun to start awarding a fans choice player of the year. Basically the only way you vote is by signing up on the forums and voting in the following poll which will close after the final game of the season. We'll get a handsome award created and somehow get it to the player...perhaps even one of you could find a way for it to work its way into the actual team banquet.

I also thought it would be nice, seeing how this is a award from the fans, to name it after who I CONSIDER the ultimate VCU fan (of all time).... Dr. Gene Hunt. Thus making it the VCU Ram Nation Dr. Gene Hunt Player of the Year Award.

That is unless any of you (including you Dr. Hunt) have a problem with it being named that. Either way, I'm open to suggestions.

I've submitted the 5 finalists, if you feel the true Player of the Year isn't represented on this list you are welcome to submit a write in vote.

Let me know if you guys have any ideas on ways to improve this award, etc.

Garvey Young at Quinnipiac is the only GY in college basketball. I'm going to assume his middle name is Frederick.
 
Personally, I think this is a good idea, but I don't think it should be forum only. It greatly limits those who are voting (IE, people who don't want to be on the forums, people who don't know about the forums, people who don't know about Ram Nation, etc.)

I only assume you may have made this vote to have people post on the forums, but that's really not a good idea if you are going for an award such as "Player of the Year" which is a prestigious title, in my opinion. I really suggest setting up a table on campus during peak hours and having people vote that way, and have a table at the game on the 26th as well, so people who have season tickets and support our players can also vote.
 
The fact thats its the Ram Nation Player of the Year, it is decided by those of us on the Ram Nation forum, not random fans around campus. Great idea guys.
