I briefly viewed the posts from the folks viewing this game on the internet stream and I can understand your anxiety as to whether we would win this game, but...BUT the team was great when it counted. What a tough hombre T.J. Gwynn is. If you fought him you would have to kill him because even if you knocked him down and out he would get up and hit you in the mouth.

Larry obviously was sensational tonight and I think even District Baller has to acknowledge LS1 is the premier big man in the league right now. Even discounting tonight's game look at Larry's stats vs UR as opposed to Fields' and that does not factor in the intangibles that Larry brings.

We would not have won tonight's game without Joey and I'm not talking about the points he scored. He was the glue that held us together down the stretch. We may have bigger stars on this team but it belongs to Joey.

A really good fan in my section whom I refer to as the "Larry Section" said we were going to have to call Roz "Big Shot Brandon" from now on. Brandon's and Joey's treys down the stretch were daggers and as much life as they gave the team and the crowd they also took the wind out of the ECU sails.

As much rust as I saw in Jamie's game tonght there were also flashes of brilliance. This guy is every good as his hype. He is going to be a dominant force in this league.

So very happy to see Jay's stroke coming back.

So all you internet fans who were sweating bullets I have to tell you that while I suffered some anxiety at about the ten minute mark it was exhilarating to see the Rams finish this game. Sometimes, sip a PBR for me.

Great post.

I was there and I really thought ECU outplayed us for the majority of the game. Abrams was just incredible tonight and Young was very good. I thought our half court D could have been much better (full court pressure was quite good) and our free throw shooting hurt us big time. But we turned them over 7 times more than we relinquished the rock and we got 18, yes 18 more shots on goal than they did - seems that was the difference. And yes, I agree that Joey was the glue tonight.

Kudos to those who attended. 7000+ during a holiday week. Way to show up Rams' fans :)

Currently at a bar drinking a PBR (and shots of Jameson) trying to finish a SYSTEM FORENSICS AND SECURITY AUDIT REPORT for presentation to executive types tomorrow.

Also, this bar is exactly three blocks from your favorite brewery. ;)

Rammed, while I feel our defense could have been better tonight I also agree that ECU was playing out of their minds. Could you tell that the Pirates really wanted this game? We shut them down when it counted.

7100 fans when the students were off? Unbelievable.

Sometimes, take a deep breath and describe the aroma, unless you are sitting next to the men's room door.

ECU played the game of their lives.

Jamar Abrams may have played the best game of his career. Kid was unstoppable. He would have looked good in a VCU uniform.

indeed

Any chance he is starting to get homesick? There were a lot of ECU fans in the house, and most of them seemed to be there because of him. I think the two Highland Springs connections were a big part of the 7,000+ attendance. Glad that he had a good game and that ECU still lost.

As a junior he likely isn't going anywhere. When Ricky Stokes was let go after his freshman year, I was kinda hoping he might consider transferring to VCU. He's a heck of a player.

Yep, they matched everything we had until the last few minutes.

people seem to keeping doing that against us and that concerns me...

and yes we were tough down the stretch but the only reason we had to be because our defense stunk and we couldn't make a free throw...

Dan, take a Tylenol PM and get some rest. Some games are going to be like that. Although I hate to see the front ends of those 1&1's bounce off the rim.

This is not the first game teams have shot a ridiculously high % against us...usually it has been for a half ...this was all game long. ECU was making a lot of short jumpers and lay-ups and wide open looks for all over. Got to clean that up and bring a little more defensive intensity.

Ahhh....anyone remember how many three's they made last year against us? Mac told me after the game last year that with the talent he's got, all he can do is tell them to chuck it up every chance they get. This year not as many fell....

A win is a win ins a win. If we have to win ugly, then we win ugly. The best thing about the game last night is that Shaka seemed disappointed in the post-game interview. He knows we can play better. WE know we can play better. We will play better. I feel sorry for the team we play win it does all does come together.

For a while we were either turning them over in the back court or they were scoring, but give credit to the team for turning them over so often. In the end that was the difference that won us the game.
