Newport News, Va. – The VCU Men's Tennis team was dominant in singles competition at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational. Four different Rams won their respective singles brackets.
Leading the way for the Black & Gold was Tim Johannsen (Hohenlockstedt, Germany), Filip Svensson (Angelholm, Sweden), Jaime Vasquez Catoira (La Coruna, Spain) and Jordan Dyke (Alexandria, Va.) all took home singles first place finishes.
Sophomore Camill Saloman (Limoges, France) also had a strong showing for the Rams. He fell just short of matching his four teammates when he finished second in the Men's B2 Singles bracket.
Top finishes in doubles begin with the pairing of Filip Svensson and Max Wennakowski. The duo took the Men's A2 Doubles bracket by defeating Chris Brown and Devard Wharton of Howard University in the finals. Teammates Camill Saloman and Jordan Dyke advanced to the finals of the B1 Doubles bracket, but failed to match Svensson and Wennakowski's finals success.
The Men's Tennis team will resume action on October 20th at Charlottesville, Virginia for the ITA Atlantic Regional.
