Rams strand 11, drop second straight to fordham, 3-1

RICHMOND, Va. – Junior Paul Nice (Powhatan, Va.) collected four hits, but Virginia Commonwealth University left 11 runners on base and fell to Fordham, 3-1, in the series finale Sunday at The Diamond.

VCU slips to 1-2 with the loss, while Fordham improves to 2-1.

Senior John Lenherr (Windom, Kan.) plated VCU's lone run in the fifth inning, but that was all the Rams could muster. Junior Kyle Sutherland (Issaquah, Wash.) led off the fifth with a single to right field. Two batters later, Nice doubled to right to put runners on second and third. With two out, Lenherr dropped a bunt single down the third base line to pull VCU within 3-1.
