Reco led Wayne Country Day to the Mission Sports Holiday Tournament Championship in Cary, North Carolina tonight. WCD beat SE Raleigh HS and Reco McCarter was named to the All-Tournament team as well as being named the Tournament MVP. Reco and WCD got to the Finals by beating Western Harnett 63-52 and McCarter led all scorers with 23 points in that game.

Congratulations Reco!

This kid is an absolute steal for VCU! Dino Gaudio is gonna be sick to his stomach when he realizes that Reco wanted to be a Demon Deacon, but didn't merit an offer. He's absolutely an ACC-caliber talent.

Kinda reminds me of another under-recruited NC native who came to VCU a few years back and now plays in the NBA. What's his name again?????

Sounds like Reco is getting a lot more buzz in HS than that "other guy" got.

I hope he doesn't back out. Has he signed a letter yet. It's one of those things there you want him to play good but not too good.

Reco signed his LOI, back on the first day of the signing period.

Reco is firmly committed to VCU. This is not a guy who came out of nowhere. Remember this guy was #128 in the Rivals150 as a junior. He had offers from schools like Virginia Tech, NC State, and Georgia. He was set on Wake and when he didn't get the offer, he decided he wanted to go to a smaller basketball school so he could focus on his academics. The kid won't be swayed by major school attention because he already had it to begin with.

Any update on how Rob B is playing in Ohio?

I'll post another thread for Rob since I don't want to favor one recruit over the other. He's doing just great so far though! :)

Championship Game stats: Reco McCarter garners Tournament MVP and All-Tournament Team honors with 19 points and 8 rebounds in a 71-60 win over Southeast Raleigh High School.

Congrats to Reco - this won't be his last tourney MVP award. He is a real stud. An absolute steal for the Rams. He is easily one of the best players down here in talent rich North Carolina. This is a strong year for BB talent in the state and he is at the top of the pecking order. Thank God we snagged him in the early signing period. Reco has an unbelieveably high ceiling.

I will be going down to Goldsboro to watch him play soon and will report back on my observations.
