Recruit from Louisville?

Picture of Gibbs...doesn't look like 210 in this picture.

Would be nice if he had some post skills though

6’7 Donovan Gibbs (Iroquois) also stopped by after the Shining Star win to talk about his recruitment. He is still sitting on offers from IUPUI, Lincoln Memorial, and Eastern KY. He is also receiving interest from Virginia Tech, VCU, Oklahoma St., Oregon St., and Mississippi St. Gibbs is just looking for the best fit and will not be rushing his decision any time soon. We spoke a little bit about the difference between playing inside for his AAU team and playing primarily the PG position at Iroquois High in Louisville. Gibbs is a team-oriented kid who just wants to play and do what the coaches ask of him. If that means playing on the block this summer that is what he will do. I see him as a 3 man at the next level, with room to improve his ball-handling to become more of a point-forward. I’ve had lots of coaches asking me about Gibbs so look for his list to grow.

Looks like he would be a great offer IF we had a scholorship to offer to a non-big and/or willing to invest in a redshirt guard. We don't need another guard, yet alone a willingess to invest in development. If we were to consider ANY guard it should be one who has existing unstoppable penetration and ball handling skills.

I really like the sound of him, size and potential. I just think with 8 one-dimensional guards [by that I mean guards who aren't 6' 7" and cannot significantly impact rebounding/defense in the paint] we cannot take a serious 2010 look at a guard? Smart sealed that decision with already offering up 4 scholarships to gaurds since he's arrived, before coaching first game--he has sent solid signal that he is not impressed with what he inherited in the backcourt. He acted on that. Coach Smart simply has little choice now but to sign a big man.

I would love to be wrong?
