Great rivalry, but it's mid-major. Most people in the commonwealth and in the sports world in general would consider UVA and VaTech as the biggest VA rivalry - - plus add in the football effect. Hey, the game is on CSN, so its' gett'n some love.

Any chance they would switch it for us? I mean, c'mon, VCU/ODU is the better game.
 
I've heard from sources at NU that it's definitely been picked up by ESPN, to be played on ESPN 2 the last game of the year.

No need for channelsurfing.net when VCUAthletics.com streams it for free and isn't bootlegged.
 
Fair is fair. VCU-ODU has been the ESPN2 game for several years now. It's only fair that they show other schools as well. With NU having a fine season, and Mason having some cache as far as national recognition, it makes sense that they picked this game.

I agree but I am thinking of the casual fan who may check out channelsurfing and say..."oh, hey, VCU and ODU...sounds like a decent game. let me check it out for a few."
 
BTW I can feel your pai on this one because it's not like NU vs. Mason is a rivalry. These are more two teams who just happen to be playing well... rather then being a true rivalry like ODU vs. VCU or UD vs. DU.

As an aside... since joining the CAA NU's never won @ Mason. :cry: NU MIGHT have an interesting problem on their hands because they really don't have a shot at an at lage and could have the conference title wrapped up. Do they go all out simply because they are on ESPN?? Ordo they play a vanilla game and go with more of the 2nd team in the 2nd half to rest the starters for Richmond/not show Mason anything special. Just something to thnk about.
 
Haha not sure that anyone here really cares what NU's thought process regarding the Mason game is. :lol:

It'll be good exposure for both teams though, and you guys have earned it. Hopefully you guys will have a better showing than you typically do in Fairfax.

I agree, but almost every other team in the nation was also playing today. It's hard enough to get tv exposure on a night where there are no other games.
