Anyone have an update on Rozzell's injury? If it's a hamstring injury or whatnot. I didn't see anything in the postgame article, so was wondering if anyone knew the seriousness of it. Hamstring injuries can be very serious to minor, and the fact that Rozzell sat after the half was kinda disturbing as to how serious it was.

I didn't hear any word of it in the post-game radio show that I caught but I missed some while walking a mile to my car.

I believe he injured it in a game earlier in the season and left the game and never came back. He seemed to be fully recovered by the next game.

Hopefully he will be ok and sitting him was just a precaution because a second half comeback was unlikely. I did notice he was still limping during the second half though.

We were sitting near the VCU bench. When Rozzell came out at the begining of the second half, he could hardly walk. Definitely a hamstring and the RTD confirmed it.

One question I had was where's the trainer? I assume Todd is no longer there, but when Rozzell was rolling on the floor in pain where was the medical staff to attend to him? Could someone explain that because it was a puzzling for me.

He was sitting at the end of the bench. That whole situation was crazy. It looked like CoachSmart wastrying to go on the floor and th erefs would not let him. Then Nixon tried to check in for Rozzell and the refs denied that and made Hinton check in a shoot the free throws.

The refs blew the call. The rule states one of the players currently in the game has to shoot the free throws for the player leaving the game injured. The refs let Mooney pick Hinton to shoot the free throws. They had to be A10 refs.

If you'll notice anytime someone gets hurt it takes a very long time for the trainer to help them, if they even do.

It's something I've noticed over the years and it's pretty odd.

Never was an issue with Todd.

The one reason a trainer may not go out immediately though, I think, is because if the trainer has to assist the player the player has to be removed. Sometimes the trainer will give the player the opportunity to "walk it off" to stay in the game. I could be wrong though.

Yeah, I did see the refs wave off Coach Smart several times. No clue why they would do that as it was obvious at that point that he was injured. I would have been more upset about them blowing the call on the sub to come in and shoot the free throws had Veal not been on the court at the time. Between the three refs you would think that one of them would have known the rule though.

no refs stopped bob huggins when de'sean butler got injured...maybe they should have though

depends on what Brandon was telling the ref...B wanted ot stay and shoot ..if the trainer or coach comes out it is a mandatory substituion situation...These A-10 hosers got it (and alot of other calls as well weong) Mooney has to pick a player in the game (Veal comes to mind) but selected Hinton instead...this was the absolute worse officiating crew I have seen

Tony Dawkins, one of the officials, is a CAA official and see him at numerous CAA games and has officiated for us before in CAA games. The coach and trainer are not allowed to go onto the floor until the officials give him permission to. The officials want to give the player the opportunity to get up on their own and walk it off. If they can not then the officials will allow the coach and trainer to assists the player. If that does happen then the opposing coach must choose someone to shoot the free throws. I know in the NBA the opposing coach can choose whoever he wants to, from the bench or from the players on the floor. It might be the same way for college hoops, not sure.
