Many had noted on the VCURamNation boards that Darrell Haley had not been reflected as committed to the Rams on Rivals and had no stars, while Veal and Brandenberg's profiles reflected having committed to VCU but were similarly unranked. Well Jerry Meyers updated their profiles and ALL of the 2010 class are 3-star recruits. That's right folks Rob Brandenberg, Reco McCarter, Toby Veal, Darrell Haley, and Juvonte Reddic are all Rivals 3-star recruits! This only serves to reinforce the fact that Coach Shaka Smart is a stud on the recruiting trail. The future is bright indeed!

Holy crap that is big news, incredible even. Absolutely sick and definitely something to be proud of and build on.
 
hate to be a downer, but i'll be excited when these guys get on the court and play well.
 
Who is the poster who is always raining on everybody's parade wondering why people are excited about two star prospects?

Honestly, I agree with buckwheat, none of this really means much until they actually step on the court. And even then, sometimes it takes until their senior season to play up to their potential. I just hope people have more patience with these recruits than they have with our coach.

Also, I was told refer to scout.com for basketball recruiting info and rivals for football recruiting.

Me too, but we gotta talk about something between now and then. So far I am enjoying this off season much more than last. We can't forget that we are losing Larry, Terrance, KP, and TJ. While you don't usually expect too much from freshmen right away we will need them to step up early on next season. I assume that Coach Smart had an idea of the position we would be in as far as bigs and that is why he went after Veal. Hopefully his experience will pay off and he will be able to contribute right away along with Skeen who was hot at the end of the season.

oh, no doubt. nothing wrong with talking about it. i just think that sometimes we get a little too caught up in the number of stars next to a kid's name. it seems that coach smart has a nice group of guys. should he already be congratulated for it? depends on one's perspective, i guess.

as much as we don't want to hear it, i'd say odu has produced some pretty darn good basketball players who flew under the radar, so stars and rankings don't always mean much in the end.

that said, these guys certainly look like some ballers.
 
Of course, you all are right. They are just star rankings. It always nice to see that the guys who are paid to know think the guys you have coming are good though. Doesn't guarantee they will be, but it's good for offseason banter and it looks good to recruits as well considering VCU. Maybe it becomes a more viable place for a highly-ranked guy.

Just don't let the hateraide crew get a hold of this info as they establish their "expectations" for next season. We will need to go undefeated with a 30 point average margin of victory to satisfy them.

Then again, since they only appear when negative things happen they're probably not around to see any of this.
