Skeen didn't make the all-CAA first team. He was the top vote-getter on the second team.

"He's just really motivated," VCU guard Joey Rodriguez said. "He's looking like the best big man in the league right now."

"It should be motivation for my whole team, not just for me," Skeen said. "I feel like there was one player [Bradford Burgess] on my team who should have made second team. I feel like there's one player [Ed Nixon] on my team who should have made the all-defensive team."

"I'm just out there trying to help the team," Burgess said. "I don't think about myself much."

"I didn't think we'd play zone that much," Burgess said. "George Mason was penetrating pretty easily. We had to do something to correct that. The zone worked."

Said VCU coach Shaka Smart: "Our guys have been aggressive. We've used [the press] here and there. Mixed in some zone. [Today against Old Dominion] we'll use a little bit different game plan. It's all about want-to at this time of year."
