RTD Coverage

or lack of....Tim Pearnell has been pretty good this year. He even scooped the Ramnation experts once or twice. But as I walked out into the cold rain at 5:30 this morning I am once again shocked to see anarticle about the ticks for tomorrow's game and nothing about the best team in richmond, our own VCU Rams.
This is happening every game for some time now. Additionally, there is an article about the ticks football team.
CAA has to have more readers in this area than the A-10, VCU, JMU, W&M., GMCC...ODU if they could read could be included but since that is suspect I will have to leave them out. You would think the sports editor would understand that concept.

A couple months ago I would have agreed, but there has been a steady improvement since CAA play started. It's not going to happen overnight, but I think they're headed in the right direction.

Oh I know how terrible it has been, no doubt about that. Just saying they've shown some improvement as of late.

In my few letters to the 'Times-Mismatch', this was the topic. When the Rams were winning w/ Capel & Crew the same exact scenario...we were doing well and UR wasn't but UR always got the bigger headline or the coverage. I tried rationalizing the CAA had more alumni than UR in RIC. Nada...no change...I don't think it will ever improve so why try but vote w/ my feet.
Granted, there have been a few improvements in the last couple of articles but a trend that does not make.
I think the real reason now for RTD not covering the Rams is simple; VCURamNation has the corner that market so why try to compete against perfection?

The RTD has given VCU excellent coverage over the years. Take a good look at the photo's and article's in the Thursday morning paper of the VCU and W&M game, and this game was covered by two reporters. Look at the limited coverage in the Thursday morning paper of the Richmond and Charlotte game. A couple of weeks ago the morning Sunday paper gave great photo's and articles of the VCU game, and the Richmond game was on page five of the paper. I've travled throughout the United States and for college sports the RTD gives VCU really good coverage, and if you read many other papers people would be shocked at the lack of coverage given to college teams by their local newspaper! Also, Richmond gets sports coverage by having a football team, this morning's paper, and since VCU doesn't have a team it hard to gives us any coverage.

I'm surprised nobody has said much about Mike Harris's Va Sports Now site. I came this close to paying the $20 in support of an alternative to the T-D but it doesn't seem as if anything has been posted there since late December.

UR will always get better coverage, always has and always will until major changes happen down there...
VCU having football would not change that...VCU's football team could win that second place toy championship and they would still be back page to UR, UVA, Tech...
Frankly I don't care...I have not subscrided to the RTD in over 10 years...see no need to...much better news and info online and online is more convenient, more timely and ecologically friendly anyway

Sorry to be an embarrassment and disappoint on an internet message board.... I am ashamed to inform you that I am a VCU alum, donor, sponsor, Alumni member, and regular guest lecturer and consultant...sorry... I will try to do better and meet your expectations...

I tried buying the RTD once, then I realized that Angel Soft was both cheaper, and much more comfortable to wipe with.
