"Part of me wanted to leave California," he said. "I wanted to see something new."

"I came here on my visit, and I really liked the school and the environment and the coaching staff," he said. "The architecture here is really different than California. The city itself is beautiful, and the people here are really nice.

"I felt like it was more of a family at VCU. I felt like I was more at home when I came here."
