At the end of a short practice yesterday, Virginia Commonwealth basketball coach Shaka Smart pointed to a sign attached to an end-zone balcony at the Richmond Coliseum.

"Who will be next???" it read, referring to the next Colonial Athletic Association tournament champion.

"We will be next," Smart told his team, adding that it would make history in the process.

"I don't feel like a fifth seed," VCU point guard Joey Rodriguez said. "I'm not even thinking of it like that. I'm thinking that we're the defending champs and it's our tournament to lose. I don't see this as a daunting task. I'm sure other people do. It's tough playing four games, but I think we're very capable of doing this."

Good to see the team's confidence in their abilities to win this tournament mirrors that of VCU fans. Let's do it.

Here's a slideshow from the RTD with the guys warming up in a short practice at the Coliseum today.

Yeah its definitely good to see that. Less than 12 hours til the start of the tourney and a little over 12 til VCU plays

Remember, GMU nearly made history in 2007 (it had to play on Friday that year) before they got Maynorized the couple minutes of the Title game. It certainly can be done.
