The Blue Hens average 2,462 in an arena with a capacity of 5,000, a building where VCU is just 4-3.

The Rams are 3-4 playing in front of crowds smaller than 4,400. All of those games have been on the road.

They are 16-2 playing in front of crowds in excess of 4,900. Seven of those games have been on the road. The Rams have won five.

VCU's two conference losses came in front of 852 at Georgia State and 1,095 at Northeastern.

The Rams bounced back from the Northeastern loss to beat James Madison 70-66 on Saturday in front of a crowd of 4,989 that Rams forward Jamie Skeen described as "live."

It happens, but it doesn't help our cause. It was on their home court as well. I can't remember the last time we had a home conference loss to a team that bad. It nearly happened against William & Mary this season, but if I were to guess then I'd say maybe in Capel's last year?

JMU during Capel's last year. I think that was our last home loss to a "bad" team.

We lost to Appy St. in AG's first year with a 17 point lead at half.

that was a game we absolutely should have won... but Appy St was pretty good that year. 23-7, 63 RPI. We got abused by their big man that game. It was sad.

I specifically said conference because I feel like coaches are more familiar with conference teams and therefore it's even less of an excuse to lose at home against a bottom feeder in your conference. Appalachian State was an embarrassing loss though, I agree.

Sorry just saw YBR's post.

To correct myself, it was Capel's 3rd season (next to last) that we lost to a putrid JMU team at the SC. They were 6-22 (3-16), with a shiny RPI of 299. They beat us by 8. We bounced back the following week to beat them by 27 at the Convo.

Are you sure that we didn't only have a 3 point lead at half of that game? I wonder whatever happened to Donte Minter.

I hope we have a similar result on Senior Night at Siegel Center...

Delaware is sure to fall in this category. The largest crowd they had this season was 3,243 on a Wednesday night against 9-10 UPenn. Not even George Mason (1,846), ODU (2,201), Drexel (2,406), or JMU (2,429) could draw a crowd even close to that. It's interesting to note that of the teams I just mentioned, there is an inverse relationship between conference standing and crowd size. I just hope that our fans making the trip are louder than ever tonight!
