On Friday, Lionel Bacon's house will transform into a hotel. Every bed will be filled and every square inch of floor will be claimed by a sleepy traveler.

The owner of the house is one of a few former VCU basketball players who resides in Houston, the host city for the Final Four. Bacon played for the Rams from 1986 to 1990; now he manages YMCAs.

So Bacon is inviting every former Ram he knows to come to Houston and take part in the celebration. If you can't find a hotel, you can stay at his house. If you can't afford a ticket, watch the game on TV in his living room.

"From Friday night to Monday, my house will be nonstop," Bacon said.

It's his responsibility to be hospitable to the other former players, he said, because if the Final Four were in another city, another alumnus would do the same. On Friday, Bacon will throw a party for other alumni, his friends and their families. He's expecting about 100 people.

black n gold runs deep through our veins, being alum or not. This story makes me proud to be an alum, not only due to the guys friendliness and openness to allow others in his home, but also I know that if I were put in the same situation, I would do the same.

I have nothing but the utmost respect, honor and love for my fellow rams, as a nation, together, united, we are a force to be reckoned with. Seeing all this Spirit fills me with pride. I cannot WAIT to go down to Richmond on saturday (and hopefully Monday!) and celebrate not just with my fellow alums, but current students, faculty and the city from which we hold our ties to.
