Unless our band is getting paid, I see no reason why we should support UofR. Their hatred and disrespect for our team and school is deeply rooted throughout their university. I am currently a grad student at UofR (I know I'm a traitor but its the 12th best graduate business school in the country). We all remember the signs the UofR kids bring to the games (VCU, K-Mart of Higher Education and the likes). When I decided to attend their university, I hoped this behavior was just kids being kids, but I was mistaken. During a class last week, a department chair teaching my class called our team "thugs" and said that VCU wanted to share a charter plane with UofR but for that to happen they would "have to put a cage around the VCU team." These comments (and UofR's general lack of respect for the accomplishments of our team and VCU as a whole) are making me seriously reconsider my decision to attend their university. So unless the money's right, I don't understand why our pep band would support such an organization...
