Let's go play them! Andy Katz just said they're scrambling to look for an opponent, why not?

I missed this story, why are they looking for an opponet? Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember them doing this a few years ago too.

They felt like they got screwed out of a bracketbuster home game so they backed out

VCU should look into this..could replace LBS

Better yet, could include LBS. A two game west coast road trip would provide more bang for our buck!

If we were still in a legitimate discussion for an at large I'd say go for it. It would be a great win and even if we lost I think the balls it took to take it on short notice would be appreciated.

That being said I think it would be kind of foolish to try and schedule another game right now, especially with some of the nagging injuries on the team, Joey in particular. At this point I doubt a win over St. Mary's would help up much in the long run, we should just save our energies for the tournament.

Like was said, the head coach wanted a home game for the Bracket Buster, he didn't get it. So he pulled out but then realized he needed one more game. Last year they were able to scramble and get Eastern Washington and this year they tried to get Souther Cal but to no avail. We should look into scheduling them, would be a great road win and most likely not a bad loss if we do lose.

Schedule another game for this season? Is that even possible this late in the season?

St. Mary's played Eastern Washington on March 13 last year after losing to Gonzaga in their conference tournament and ended up getting an at-large bid.

I'm assuming that this is out of the ordinary.
Even with a quality win on the road against St. Mary's, I doubt we would get an at-large bid.
I guess it wouldn't hurt to schedule another game after the CAA tournament (I don't see it happening).

I agree with several of the posters on this thread. If we were in at-large contention then absolutely schedule the game. We are not even remotely on the bubble right now after the JMU loss. There's simply no way they are going to take a 4-6 place CAA team as an at-large. Any at-large talk is just delusional thinking from fans wearing black and gold glasses.

There is only one way to the tournament for VCU, and it goes through the Richmond Coliseum.

Why play them after the CAA Tournament? We won't need an at-large then.

I didn't know that you could back out of a Bracketbuster game once they had been scheduled. I thought you signed a contract.

If 5-10 more teams would do this we could be done with the bracketbuster! Pull out Norwood, pull out!
