For four years, the Rams were Eric Maynor's team. Larry Sanders was a nice complementary player for most of that time.

Sanders emerged as the star of this season's VCU squad, but his team went to the CBI championship instead of contending in the Big Dance, which hurt his visibility again.

Sanders hasn't declared for the NBA draft yet, but Fran Fraschilla thinks he should.

"Once an unknown, Sanders has worked hard to put himself on the radar of NBA teams because of a combination of NBA traits like excellent athleticism, quickness and length, a big ceiling for improvement and a solid basketball IQ -- especially considering that he arrived at VCU with little experience," Fraschilla writes. "At this point, comparisons to Theo Ratliff (at least the version that was drafted out of Wyoming 14 years ago) are fair, but to think Sanders will have the same career is asking an awful lot. A team in the second half of the first round will be willing to roll the dice and take that chance, though."

If Sanders stays, he can help coach Shaka Smart build on the CBI championship and hopefully get back on the big stage. If he goes, he'll be taking his chances. The major X factor here is the expected NBA lockout, which has pushed many underclassmen out the door for fear that they'll have fewer options if they stick around another year.

Ratliff is a good comparison for Larry, most of the rest of it is filler to make Fran seem smart.

While we appreciate seeing the info, not sure ESPN would be too pleased with you copying and pasting the whole thing about Larry from their paid access onto a free board.

If Morrisar paid to be an insider then I think it's OK. If I bought a CD and it was really good, I'd play it for everyone.

Yes he does....when he decides to use it. He is still young basketball wise. He has really good low post moves and can get to the basket. Very good defender.

Late 1st round or early 2nd. Lot of guys declaring this year.

doesn't work like that... (setting aside the public performance right which is a separate animal for sound recordings which would complicate the metaphor) ...you can play a CD you bought for family and friends, like at a private party, but you couldn't play it at a bar (a webforum) where admission is charged (like subscription webfora) or drinks are sold but there's no cover (a forum where users use free, but ads are sold) ...then you have to pay some royalty collection organization like ASCAP or BMI

and metaphor aside, I'm guessing, although I haven't seen it, that there's something in the Insider subscription license agreement somewhere that makes it a no-no as well, and could lead to the subscriber forfeiting their subscription

I think this is more like making a copy of the CD. However he should be able to call us all on the phone and read the article to us though. Do that next time if you have to.

Morrisar if you get poop, then something is wrong with law. He cited the source and did everything right in my opinion. I like RCVOcean are whatever your name is posting a link and giving nothing. So afraid of laws.

Listen, this is a small message board. Just let it go. Have a Red Stripe on me!

Right now Larry is projected as a late first round pick and I think he can still move up the draft board before late June. I think what impresses scouts the most is 1) potential and 2) workouts. You can argue a lot of stock gets put into numbers but players get taken all the time that don't have impressive numbers (Brandon Jennings). Larry with his height, wingspan, and athleticism checks out at number 1 and as for number 2, dominating the skills camps over last summer has probably set him up to do some damage this year in private workouts and such. I'm sure as teams bring him in to workout alongside other potential draftees he will rise about the rest. Best of luck to Larry for what hopefully turns out to be a stellar NBA career!

there is plenty wrong with the law, that's for sure (one of the main reasons I studied it was because I think it needs a lot of reform) ... for one thing, the way it's currently structured, if one is sued for copyright infringement, and you plan on using a fair-use defense (which would probably be the best argument here), the average cost of mounting such a defense in court (doing it well that is) is over $100K (usually because of lots of batting expert witnesses) ...so unless we're chipping in to cover it, it's probably irresponsible to encourage it

also, it isn't just the person who posts the infringing material that's liable, it's also the host/provider, so it puts VRN at risk
