OK DB, what time do we get a eye -witness report on the LaSalle scrimmage?

There won't be any eye witness reports. Nobody that was actually there will comment on it they want to keep their sources. Any reports you may hear will be second hand at best.

if they were actually there then they are their own source, but i understand what you mean. ;)

I did a little digging and this I have heard. Like i said before, nobody who was at the scrimmage will be posting their accounts, so this is a second hand report.

VCU won in 40 minutes 13 points. We won the third 5 minute segment 15-8. No, that's not a typo. 15 points in 5 minutes. This team can definitely push the pace like no team we have seen in recent history.

Larry dominated the game and was virtually unstoppable. Joey looked completely at home running the point. Brad saw time at both the 3 and 4 spots and caused some big headaches for La Salle. Nixon is doing a much better job finishing at the hoop and continues to impress. Theus was the most impressive newcomer. Skeen did not play.

This La Salle squad is picked to finish 4th in the A10. If that's legit then the rams have one heck of a season to look forward to.

all sounds excellent. sounds like by midseason we are going to have a problem teams would love to have if Joey keeps playing this well and Theus keeps developing in terms of who to start. With Joey's shooting ability if Theus continues to improve and impress at the point, any chance they start together? I say that because it seems as much as anything Shaka is going to stress the defensive side of the game and we all know Joey is a pest on the defensive side. thanks for the info x.

It's great to hear that Larry dominated when the guy facing off against him was 6'11, 265 pound Aaric Murray who was the #35 overall prospect in the class of 2009. He is expected to be a big-time player and by all accounts Larry completely beasted him. This is GREAT news. Somehow we managed to beat the preseason #4 team in the A10 by 13 points without Eric Maynor gift-wrapping passes for Larry. When the rest of the CAA finds out that Larry is not missing a beat without Eric, they're going to be very, very, very scared. 8-)

While winning is good....winning isn't everything in these scrimmages IMO. Coaches likely want to try different things or concentrate on certain aspects of a game they feel are weak. What if LaSalle concentrated on defense while we concentrated on offense? Well certainly we win. Remember that this isn't a real game....the reasons for playing are different.

And while xjohnx is usually very knowledgeble....certainly much more than me, do we know all the details? How much did LaSalle's center actually play?

Plus, I guess I am being selfish. I don't want to get too excited only to get all depressed if we don't look like an olympic team the first time I watch them play. 8-)

Good point...it is just a scrimmage after all. It's still nice that we won convincingly though. Plus Brad being able to play the 4 is a big thing for us considering how thin we are upfront til Skeen is eligible,

obviously we were doing this also if we were doing things like playing brad at the 4, integrating a new defense and incorporating a handful of new players, so it goes for both sides, but you are right im not worried about the win or by how many but the development of our players.

LaSalle's center played virtually the entire game. Larry had 38 points in the 40 minute game.

The main reason we won was depth. We had it, they did not. We ran a very liberal substitution pattern and got significant contributions from our bench.

Keep in mind that La Salle starts 4 seniors with their star freshman center.
