On the 6pm Sportscenter, Shaka said in an interview on leaving, "I love it here. I love the fans. I love the support we enjoy, but more importantly I love our players and I really cant see looking them in the eye after this run we've had and telling them Im going somewhere else."

He seemed very genuine when saying this.

I'll keep one eye open until the NC State, Mizzou and Dayton (something tells me the appeal of coaching in his home state could be a draw for him) jobs fill.

I said it earlier - after our first three wins, the more we won, the less likely it would be he leaves. The first two or three are the kind that get guys gobbled up by the loser programs out there with big money. But now he's a legend at VCU and has done something so special that it would take something even more special for him to up and leave.

I think so too...I really feel like he will go the path of Brad Stevens after this. Nothing would make me happier if he does.

Doubt he leaves but if Billy D does goes to NC State I'm sure Smart would get an interview at Florida or Bama.

Isn't Wisconsin his home state?

If anyone sees the vid on youtube, pls post it. I'm one of those slackers that miss Sportcenter often

I'm keeping my fingers crossed until a contract is officially agreed upon between Shaka Smart and VCU.

You allude to this without saying it, but I agree that there is a strong possibility Grant moves to Florida if that job opens up. Jeremy Foley loves him and Grant loves Florida.

like in NC State? Billy Donovan leaves UF for the NC State job? seriously?

Rumor (ESPN), he was in Raleigh interviewing.

CBS reported/tweeted last Sunday a blockbuster announcement was coming out of STATE soon.

I hope it's just a move to get more money out of the Gators. I seriously doubt he'd take that job.

As far as Smart goes, I just don't see him moving. Baby on the way, loves VCU, will get a huge increase and a lack of must have type jobs open this year. Maybe in 4 or 5 years but who knows.

I heard this rumor two weeks ago, at that time i was told that a gentlemans agreement had already been reached between Billy and NC State. Apparently he was tired of being in football's shadow.

i agree that would make about as much sense as shaka smart leaving to take the eastern washington job

Please remember NC State has Two National Championships, 12 ACC titles, a pro arena seating about 20,000...an AD hungry to hire a big guy and make the school relevant again. Do people really think the ACC will be down for a long period of time?
