This weekend Scout.com's National Recruiting Director Dave Telep will be holding his annual 'Carolina Challenge' for the top high school players in North Carolina at Cary Academy in Raleigh. There will be a free coaching clinic on Friday at Millbrook High School for High School and Junior High School Coaches. Our very own Shaka Smart will be one of the keynote speakers at this event.

This year’s clinic will the feature the following speakers:

VCU’s head coach Shaka Smart
N.C. Central’s head coach Levelle Moton
UNC assistant coaches Jerod Hasse and C.B. McGrath

This is great for Shaka and VCU getting such great exposure and access to North Carolina high school coaches. Not to mention the fact that Shaka will likely get to see some of our 2011 targets while he's at it.

dont think we have to worry too much about Shaka needing to be exposed in NC with those guys named McCarter and Reddic he has already taken out of there, but it never hurts. :D

You can never do too much.

This is a great marketing/recruiting strategy by Shaka. He is a very intelligent guy and has the opportunity to make a personal connection to these players and be seen in a much different light than just being at the event to recruit.

do we know if the better players in NC we have been linked to for '11 will be there (Chris Wilson, Anthony Stitt, Travion Leonard)? If i missed others, them too. Keep up the hard work Coach.

Does our win tonight mean that Shaka has to pull out of this event on Friday to prepare for the upcoming championship series or it's Friday so he goes anyway since no game til monday?

Good for Shaka - he is a hard working young man, that's for sure. Funny how a few wins have restored the order on here ...............

Some just stay away when we win, they wait to pounce like cowards when we hit adversity.

Either way I'm sure the assistants are more than capable to handle a practice session

Dont know if they saw each other yesterday or if Coach is there to watch the proceedings this morning but Chris Wilson the 6' 2" 190lb 3 start pt guard from Fayetville is in attendance at the challenge.

@EvanDanielscout The Challenge is underway. Marquis Rankin is off to a nice start, as is Chris Wilson & Jacquise Moore
