For those of you that don't know yet, Oliver Purnell has left Clemson for the greener pastures of DePaul

Shaka is being mentioned as a candidate to replace him Clemson, where he was once an assistant.

that was a thought that popped in my head as soon as i heard about oliver bolting.

No way Shaka bolts for Clemson, that would be a pretty underhanded move, and he is a quality, class guy.
He will build a program here for another 3 or 4 years before leaving is my guess.

Hmm... that's what we all thought about Coach Capel. Low and behold the noon Sportscenter that day let me know he was gone. And in Coach Capel's words during the press conference "When Oklahoma called of course I was going to listen."

Is this unlikely? I'd LIKE to think so. But you never know. I think we are in a better position b/c Shaka only has one year under his belt as a head coach and while he won a postseason tourney, he didn't take the team to the dance. Success in the dance makes college basketball coaches hot commodities.

nu uh. this didn't happen.

shaka's name won't be mentioned for another 4 years or so.

his name might have been mentioned but I doubt seriously they would strongly consider him. One year as a head coach...I think what want to see how would do over the long haul...3-4 years before he were strongly considered for another spot at a top ranked conference.

You mean like Florida who was going to hire Grant to come back after 1 year here when Donovan was apparently going to the Magic. Yes I know that Grant got to the tourney and we beat Duke, but just saying still 1 year as a had coach.

We shouldn't be worried. Didn't somebody say Monte Ross could've accomplished what Shaka did this season?

Completely different. Florida had only one candidate for that job and it was Anthony Grant, not because of his success at VCU, but because he was Billy Donovan's right hand man for 10 years at Florida and the ASSOCIATE HEAD Coach for several years. Situations are not comparable.
