Either Coach Smart is showcasing Larry's nonexistent "long-range shooting talents" or he doesn't have control of the team during a game. I don't care if Larry takes a shot or two from long-range if we are up by 20 points or more, but to do it when we don't even have control of the game yet is stupid, yes stupid. Smart should pull any guard who passes to Larry if he is 6 or more feet from the basket.

Hey I have an idea, let's highlight:

Joey's shot blocking abilities by putting him in the center spot on defense;

Kirill bringing the ball up the court;

Terrence can start shooting from the arch too.

Work on this stuff in practice or wait until we have a lead we can't lose (I guess at least 17 points in the 2nd half) the game by and then let them have their fun.

I was so ticked that I couldn't bring myself to read any of the threads. To lose like that hurts at-large chances and recruitments.

This is one of the problems with reacting to things emotionally. Larry's 3s ticks me off as much as anyone, but after watching the game I'm not as frustrated as I was last night. Towards the end of the game we just couldn't knock down any shots. Larry got several good looks down low that wouldn't drop and one that got blocked.

But I agree, the Larry - three point shooter experiment has got to end and hopefully he got the message last night (especially if he got his hands on the comcast telecast and heard the announcers).

Yes but need Larry in the paint for that too. I know his wingspan is long but he can't reach from the 3 pt line to the rim to get his own shot. :lol:

Larry has certainly changed his game since last year.....for good and bad (but mostly good).

Where did he get the idea to start shooting 3's? The turn around jumpers?, etc.

Was the the Lebron camp?

Larry came into this year with an expanded game. But here is a hint to Larry from one old and wise fellow - and it doesn't involve basketball:

Trying different things is good. Continuing to try those same things when they don't work is not good....especially when your ass and others is on the line. Put them in your bag labelled, "things to work on [during non-crucial times]"

Larry doesn't even have the post fundamentals down enough to have a things to work on when time permits folder

Most of us are disappointed in the game choices of several of our players, and justifiably so....but an entire thread devoted to ridiculing a college kid, who also just happens to be our very best player?
Cool stuff, guys. :roll:

This is a VCU BASKETBALL FORUM! If you don't expect criticism go make your own website or better yet go over to the ODU boards, they're so used to losing they're numb.
When we win, it's great. When we lose, some of our posters start hanging the nooses.
FACTS OF LIFE!
JUST WIN!

Some of Larry's positioning issues has to do with him setting high ball screens. This is what Eric used to call for him to do last year. Last year however, Eric usually took the ball to the hole or shot it. Just wish he would roll towards the basket after the pick this year to either receive the pass then or when he's lower on the block.
