So I am a student and I went to purchase a ticket for my fiance tonight and it was free. I have always paid the $7 or $8, whatever the price is but tonight they gave me one for free. Obviously I didn't object but did something change?

From my understanding, it was just something special they did for this game.

because they expected low student turnout?

I guess. I didn't even know about it until tatum mentioned it on here.

That was a mistake, you owe $7. Give it to me and I will get it into the right hands.

Always keep an ear out for promotions for these games over the holiday break. Be ready to fill up your car with future Ram fans and bring everyone you know to the games.

I received a text message yesterday saying,

"VCU Students! Show this text at the box office tonight and receive a free guest ticket to the Rams/ECU game. Tip off is at 7:30! Txt STOP 2 stop."

I'm assuming it had to do with that, but I guess they weren't requiring you to show them the text message...

I've been on the text list since November 13th and this was the first like this so I don't think anyone has been missing out on free tickets. My guess for the game last night, they were expecting a low student turnout so were accepting one free guest per student. I know I also received one for the Rhode Island game offering a 2 for 1 deal.

please do not do this. Anyone see the 3 ecu fans in the student section last night? Yeah...don't just bring anyone.

Back in the old days students got in for free and they could get an unlimited number in for $1 each.

Back in the old days we were lucky to break 2K for total attendance during a break!

Yep - back in the day when the money was short, my wife and I would hang outside the Coliseum and get a student to get us in as guest tickets.

Speaking of my wife, yesterday was our 19th wedding anniversary. What did we do to celebrate? The Rams and dinner at Five Guys - what a woman!! I'm a lucky man ......................

Of course I owe her a real night out, but still ................ :D

Congrats! And yes, she's definitely a keeper!

Well, just future Rams fans like I said then. Basically it is a good opportunity to bring someone to a game that has never been before and it won't cost you a dime. Took my 11 year old cousin to a few last year and he was so happy you would have thought someone had just bought him a new car, and it didn't cost me a dime. Today's casual fan could be tomorrow's Rowdy Ram.
