So does anyone have any insight on what our Skeens game is like? I have heard the generic "tall, athletic, has some range stuff' but not much else. can't wait to see him, santill, and sanders tear up the caa this year

Reports from practice are that he is the best offensive player on our team, and it's not even close.

John, if you are correct, we are on the edge of something great!

practice and game are two different things.

Perhaps like Santil during the UR game he will come through. But perhaps like Santil in the UR game he will garner 3 fouls in a short period of time and have to sit the rest of the game. Then there is the rust factor, practice be damned. Then there is the complete and utter domination of the opposition.

I'm hoping for the latter :)

I didn't expect much from Santil considering his play from last year and the fact he just had surgery on his shooting hand ...but was pleasantly surprised (hope he keeps it up). Let's hope Skeen will do the same.

john isnt the first person that has an inside that has said to me that skeen is the real deal

I think the fouls are from the rust, with on the court time the rust will come off.

Practice is not the same. But if Skeen is half a good as promised, he will be pretty good.

But that is not to say that everything will work out fine. The rotation has just gotten to the point where the players know their roles and know what is expected. Now we have more players to work into the game, and share minutes. It might take some time for them to adjust to a different rotation.

As long as all the players have one thing in mind- WINNING -we should be fine. But someone is going to lose minutes.

Yeah, remember guys, Sam Harris was the most dominant player for ODU in practice. He was a sure-fire lottery pick in practice.

I talked to a couple of players who said that Skeen is the best offensive player on our team as far as being a scorer. He's also a monster rebounder according to Nixon if you listen to the RamNation podcast. The rebounding itself will be a huge relief for us, but add even a little scoring, and we become much more scary. For all intents and purposes, Skeen is going to be an impact player.

That said, I also hyped up Gavin a lot, and he hasn't panned out as well as I'd hoped so far. So take it with a grain of salt. We really won't know how well he'll do until he's put in a real game situation. All signs are he's a flat-out stud though.

I think gavins issues have been with the loss of his mother and the holidays, its gotta be hard and i dont think basketball would be first on my mind this holiday season.

Personally being in the same situation as Jay this year, I would completely disagree. You go on living life, and the basketball court is probably where he feels most comfortable/best right now. He is such a class act honoring his mother as often as possible. It's a loss no person at this age should go through. Enjoy life, family, and friends. Cherish every day!

and did you really just compare Jamie Skeen to Spam Harris????? and to think I lobbied for you to be POY, never again

It was a joke...jeez. You don't remember T-Mac bragging about how Spam was dominating in intra-squad scrimmages?! That statement was dripping with sarcasm.

It's going to be hilarious to see how much more effective Skeen will be in one game then Sam ever was in his career.

I've been biting my tongue on this issue but since you said it...

I wish people would stop using this as an excuse for anything wrong with Gavin unless we hear it directly from him. Everything Gavin doesn't do well from this point on isn't necessarily associated with his loss and I bet he'd be the first to point that out. Could we please put a moratorium on this excuse.

I don't see a guy who looks depressed. I see a guy who has lost confidence in his jumpshot.
