Smart's first task: Replace Maynor

Thanks for posting, but this article is bad...a few silly quotes....

UCLA was so sure that Maynor would take the last shot in their NCAA first-round game last March that the Bruins barely bothered to guard the other four Rams. Maynor left VCU as its career leader in scoring and assists and was named to the CAA's 25-year, 25-man anniversary team.

I am pretty sure that Colison played Maynor 1 on 1 - - just look at the replay!

Surprisingly, while Sanders was picked to the preseason all-CAA team by a panel of coaches and media, he was not named preseason player of the year. Old Dominion senior forward Gerald Lee and Hofstra junior guard Charles Jenkins shared that honor.

Really? Who was surprised by this? Maybe people who have never watched a CAA game before.

I agree this article was pretty poor. Smart won't expect to have Maynor there, he never coached Maynor. Duh. He'll know who he can rely on as things progress. We have a lot more backcourt depth and experience this year, some hot shooters, and a better inside presence. We'll be a different team doing different things, which despite Eric's brilliance and grit, hopefully will make us an all around more dangerous team.

Yes, the article in the Times Dispatch was much better.

You're lucky to get anything in that newspaper well written or poorly written. 55 miles away and the last article was probably us beating Duke. If its not on the AP, forget it.

Big Shot Brad will be our go to guy in clutch situations. He is a clutch shooter as he showed us last year by hitting those huge shots in the U of R game down the stretch to lead us to victory and the three that he hit against JMU in OT to seal the deal. Brad is the man!
