Just in case you haven't visited the zone in awhile. Here is a GREAT analysis of teams and a prediction of order of finish. Apparently he does this every year on some of the posts I had read and I'm newer so I'll be looking forward to this every year. He must take a lot of time to make this and I'd just like to say thank you. He doesn't include any bias that I could detect in the post at all. Thank you SN08.

Decent read, but not sure I get the statement that 13-14 wins and another title isn't realistic for VCU. The guy has us in the top 3 after losing Maynor and Grant. Wouldn't a top 3 team have a chance at 13 wins and a reg season title? I will be disappointed if we have an 10-8 or 11-7 CAA record. I also thought he underplayed the following:

- Our incredible home court atmosphere and winning % at the Stu
- Skeen's post abilities as an inside-out player, which could make him the most versatile big in the CAA
- The aggregate scariness of our perimeter shooting game (Burgess, JRod, Gavin and Rozzell - - not to mention Skeen and Daniels)
- The pace/style of play, which has caused issues for our opponents

Also, if Grayson is coming, he could be an x-factor.

Finally, it's way to early to do this write-up. Dude shoulda waited 'til about October.

And yes, I get that I am not being objective, but I am a fan and I am not supposed to be objective about my team.

Yeah I know, but I thought it was a decent overview on the WHOLE CAA and getting down to the minor details of each team that he wasn't a fan of would be tough. I don't think he recognized our transfers as being capable at all, so we'll see.

SN08 is one of the decent guys over there (along with many of the W posters). I'm sure it's a good read and preview.

SN08 should be applauded...

my top 4 as of now, in case folks were losing sleep over it..

1. ODU
2. VCU
3. GMU
4. NE

NE's biggest achilles heel is its sad as poop arena. This team deserves so much better. Kinda like RVA with its sad state of affairs sports venues. If only RVA got on the ball 10 years ago like everybody else.

HOWEVER! RVA is a top 20 city as far as music/art/film/culture scenes go. (i'll take it, plus I only care about college sports, VCU and UR have quality arenas. (new football stadium will get me to UR games, yea I said it)
In fact MY BLOODY VALENTINE is coming to the National, so all is well....

It's funny that SN08 has become one of the better posters at the Zone (not that I go there anymore) because he was a total tool when he started posting. I guess a couple years of really poopty UNCW basketball has brought him down a few levels.

True, maybe he's just better compared to the rest of the zone

The zone can bring out the worst in people I think, because I'm a total douche to all the GMU people.

My order of finish is the same.

1.ODU - Lost 0 starters off of a top 4 team
2.VCU - Lost 1 starter. It was Maynor, but bringing in 4 / 5 talented players
3.GMU- Lost 3 starters, but bring in a very talented recruiting class. Young
4.NE- Lost 1 starter, but lost 5 total players, 3 of which played over 10 minutes a game. Like to choke
5.JMU
6.Hofstra
7.GSU
8.Delaware
9.UNCW
10.Towson
11.W&M
12.Drexel

Too lazy to do the little breakdowns that I did on all the teams.

Picking a pre-season favorite this early --- "well, it just isn't realistic"--. But the top 4 teams (VCU, ODU, GMU and NU) have depth and talent. There should be some meaning OOC wins for the big 4. Wait a minute did I just subliminally predict VCU beating Oklahoma at home. That just happened!

It'll be tough to beat Oklahoma as we won't have Skeen yet, at least i don't think.

We won't.

It will be tough to beat Oklahoma with 11 guys on the floor at once, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. We hung with them for most of the first half this past season, next year's team will be capable of closing the deal at home. Opportunities for us to play teams like this (should be in the top 25, possibly top 10) are so few and far between we have to make the most of them and take care of business at home no matter who the opponent.

Also we hung with them even without Maynor's shots falling. Now if we can play that same way and whoever our PG is can hit their shots we have a good chance. The point is we'll need a good amount of points from everyone. If we have a game where like Maynor would score 30 and the rest don't make double digit we'll be in some trouble. My worry with Oklahoma is that if the team has trouble it will fall on the shoulders of Joey to lead the team. Thats a lot of pressure to lead the team and be one of the big scorers. Maynor did a good job of not showing it when he did it.
