So honestly, how did you feel?

Honestly, how did I feel?

I felt great. I don't have cable, so I have to watch these events out and about. Went to my favorite local sports bar, which was pretty dead, so the owner, the bartender and I were able to sit there and watch the draft with the sound turned up. Once Philly picked Holiday, I basically knew he was going to Utah, especially after that last-minute interview they had with him two days ago.

Even so, as it was announced, I jumped up in my bar stool, screamed something along the lines of: "heck YEAH! GO E!"

After a split second of complete silence since I stunned everyone else with my outburst, I yell: "NO ONE CARES BUT ME!" causing the other half a dozen or so patrons to burst out laughing.

Anyway, it felt good. Utah might have a few negatives (for me it'll mostly be trying to find places to watch the games) but it's a good program with a good coach and a good situation for Eric. Not sure why anyone is complaining at all.

After Jeff Teague, I just knew Eric was next. I just wished he went down one more spot to New Orleans. I'd rather see him play behind Chris Paul (that, and Jazz are just kinda boring  ). Plus, New Orleans' jerseys look better, lol. In my wild imagination I was hoping he slipped to the Wizards at 32 :D

The guy that gave his heart & soul to the VCU program for 4 years has realized his dream and will be a wealthy man.

How do I feel?

Privileged to have watched him up close and happy for his success. What he does from here on out is all gravy

Yeah, I knew it was Utah too. I told my two daughters to come into the family room because they were calling Eric's name next. They thought it was very cool, although they were disappointed it wasn't Philly.

Dude, um UTAH is a solid program. Maynor under the tutelage of d. williams is huge. Deron is awesome and a high character player. I also love Carlos Boozer.....Go Jazz!

new uni's aint bad either...the Malone days were ugly...what were those mountains on there? looked more like blue vomit. I didn't care for the Mark Eaton era/'80s uni's either.

don't forget, Utah is always rated the hardest play to play in regards to fan noise, and smaller venue.

Slim chance Boozer is coming back. Very slim. Also, small venue? Their venue is right up there in size and capacity with the rest of them. Not a fan of their post play outside of what Boozer's demonstrated, but i'm never a fan of underathletic european big men.

FUCLA.

As a Sixer fan, I'm very disappointed. They've drafted so many immature players who allegedly had a "high ceiling." Holliday has bust written all over him.

Some of you may be surprised to know that Eric Maynor is the second player from his immediate family to hear his name called in the NBA draft.

Father George Maynor was selected in the fourth round of the '79 draft, by Chicago, following a solid career at East Carolina. G. Maynor actually played against VCU while a Pirate.

Ehhh.

I wasn't the most excited but what I do love about Holiday as a future PG is his size, 6'4, and he knows how to use that well against undersized opponents. With Miller back, a healthy Elton Brand, Thaddeus Young and company, I think we can finally get out of the first round of the playoffs.

Ok so I've had some time to let this sink in...and I'm here to announce that I am officially a die hard Jazz fan.

Outside of the Eric Maynor thing, I really just love the fact that they are called the Jazz. Who doesn't love Jazz? I will be listening to a ton of Count Basie to prep myself for the upcoming season.

I gotta say though...that Mountain logo "gotsta go". Bring back that famous note...and while I do like the blues they are rocking...(no pun intended), I'd love to see them go back to the Stockton/Malone Purple and Yellow (er..."gold").

Old Utah Jazz fans, I hope you will have me aboard your bandwagon.

I'm happy where he landed, selfishly I wanted him to go a team that needed a starting point guard, but I think this is a better situation for him. 1) He gets to learn from one of the best point guards in the league. 2) He gets to play for a playoff team. 3) He will get TV time when they play the Lakers, and I'll be rooting for the Lakers which sucks for me. 4) He won't be getting replaced by a better player in the up-coming drafts and end up being a backup anyway. I know he could have hit it big with a starting role but, now thinking about it, he's in the right spot.

How much longer does Williams have before he's a free agent? What are the chances the Jazz will be able to hold on to him? I don't think it's that bad of a situation for Eric. He has time to get acclimated to the NBA game at his own pace rather than getting thrown in to the fire.

And as I have stated before...he can have 5 wives.

"According to league sources, Williams agreed to a three-year extension with a player option for the fourth year. The deal will pay Williams the maximum allowed by the NBA's collective bargaining agreement and the earliest he can become a free agent would be the summer of 2012."

If and when he is ready, Maynor will play. Derek Fisher didn't have any problems getting PT and exposure the one year that he was there, Williams second year - the year that he really evolved into the player he is now.

This could very be a great situation for him if he is up to the challenge and mentally amd physically tough enough. Much of what I have read so far from the national media is very positive. Sloan is demanding (to say the least), and Williams is pretty tough too. I'm still mad they let Dee Brown go - but that's another story. ;)

Good Luck to him, and hopefully he will have a long and productive career for VCU fans to follow.

The name "Jazz" is gonna go before the mountains go being as they were originally the New Orleans Jazz... but I don't know what other name they would go with. Utah Mormons would probably be inappropriate I guess
