I'm not as upset as I thought I would be. We played a gutsy game against a very good opponent. ODU looked very legitimate as a NCAA sweet sixteen contender in the first half. We played without our defensive stopper for a good amount of it, and they pulled away. He came back and we made a huge run, making a very good game of it. Our guys showed heart and a tremendous desire to win. It was great to see Larry in the stands too. We have basketball to play yet.

Realistically we had to play our best game to beat Drexel, GMU, and ODU consecutively in 3 days. After that last stretch to the season, I doubt anyone expected what happened to transpire. We played VERY respectably. Way to go boys. Did we reach our goal this season? Nope. That doesn't mean we can't celebrate our team.

I'm proud of you guys. Keep your heads up. You are winners in my book.

I think it's also worth noting that this season wasn't a "failure" even if we didn't win the CAA Tournament. 23 wins and a postseason berth. If we don't make the dance we'll likely be hosting a first-round game in the NIT.

Not bad for a team that many had written off just 9 days ago.

Very proud of our guys! I would have loved to win the conference title but we went down fighting! Looking forward to post season play. Congratulations ODU! I will be supporting ODU and GMU in the upcoming Tourney. Make the CAA proud!!!

I'll be rooting for the teams they play against to lose, rather than ODU and Mason to win. I want to see lots of ugly games, Blaine Taylor getting T'ed up, and Coach L acting like a bumbling fool when his team gets upset by Long Island or Belmont or North Texas.

Great weekend. You just can't go down like that to a defensively smart team and expect to win on any given night.

I'm pleased for the run that we made in the tourney too. Tonight, it was just not quite good enough to get it done, against a very good ODU team...but certainly an effort to be proud of.

Although an at-large bid seems unlikely, at least we're in the bubble conversation and will do no worse than the NIT...not a bad accomplishment, considering we weren't supposed to win the league anyway.

I was really upset with how this team ended the regular season. It was really pitiful.

But how they got their stuff together and pulled a great tournament run was good to see. Yea they fell short, but they went down fighting and that's what I liked to see.

Will be interesting to see what happens next in the post season. We're an NIT lock if teams on the bubble survive, if not, there is a very small chance we will slip in the big dance. Our resume stacks up there with the rest of the pack.

According to nitology.com we are in the NIT as a 5 seed. Doesn't that mean we have to play a 4 seed at their place?

I hope the seniors decide that playing in the NIT is a noble calling and make some noise. It may give us an opportunity to play and beat some teams we have wanted to for a long while.

I too am proud of this team. Tonight we competed. I'm sure the amazing Blainiac is washing the skid marks out his boxers about now.

Very, very proud of all the guys (coaches included)... but... Ed Nixon ... darn, there's a man!

Thanks for this thread District.

They fought and that is so important given the ups and downs this season.

Always pround of our teams,
we don't do stupid stuff, we have respectable young men and women who are not on police blotters or smaking babies and backboards.
I really wanted them to win and was sickened watching ODU of all teams beat us for the third time in 12 months in RICHMOND!
I felt better that we did not fold and made a game of it.
I do not fully understand why we did not give some of the guys a blow at like the 5 min mark to the under 4 TO to get some wind and legs for one last push but then I am not on the bench and I am not a coach.
go rams
see the new ones in OCTOBER

Very proud. ODU was just too good in the first half. The guys gave it everything they had. Looking forward to success in whatever post season games we may have.

the people on the team are really respectful, but I'm not particularly proud of them for this season.
hate to see us losing in Richmond, for so many times in one season!
