Spring Signing

Usually that means that someone has already given a verbal and is just waiting to officially sign, so I am going to go with no for $1,000, Alex....

Will we sign anyone on the first day of Spring commits?

Not signing anyone on day-1. And most likely, only going to use (1) of the scholarships for this incoming class- unless someone unbelievable shows up that is completely unexpected. And will be holding on to the second.

Where did you hear that about holding on to the second? Not too bright if you ask me, which you certainly did not do!

If you equate VCU's awarding a scholarship with cashing in a stock then it might be smart to wait. I suspect the value of that stock is going up and might be in VCU's best interest to hold one for a while, take the summer to ascertain its increased value; soaking up/talking up some of the "Final 4" realities and increased recognition nationwide. Its good to be a Ram right now.

could be a guy looking to transfer at the end of the year and sit out nov & dec, such as McKie, etc. Justing thinking

Also we will have 2 redshirt freshmen next season, two true freshmen, and 2 more spots available. If we use them both that would be a 6 man class with only 2 available for 2012. Save one and that gives us 5 frosh and 3 available for 2012. Might depend on who we sign with the first one.

DA-VID HIN-TON!

If we end up holding on to a scholarship next year, I hope they consider awarding it to Hinton for one season at least.

Interesting thought. Although that would take us out of the running for any mid season transfers (a la Skeen) would it not?

Now you are on target. Program wise it doesn't make sense to keep having these mega classes. Next year only Brad's a Senior better to couple it with that class.

Toby will be a senior as well. We will have two seniors next year, but possibly 3 scollys to give for 2012 if we hang onto one of the two that we have available now.

Exactly...Im all about holding one off if we sign the right guy with our first scholarship. Really hard to have this talk until we see who bites first.
