St. Mary's Ryken Knocks off Basketball Powerhouse DeMatha

Re: St. Mary's Ryken Knocks off Basketball Powerhouse DeMath

Thanks for posting this article. I have been excited about Treveon ever since we signed him. I might catch some flack for this, but I expect Treveon to start and make an impact as a freshman next year. Seems like a good kid too, and still very young.

Only problem is I have seen his first name spelled incorrectly.

I hope Coach Tallman is right. I just won't believe it till I see it. The phrase "so and so has NBA potential" gets used way too often. Our own commentators have said that both Jamie Skeen and Brad Burgess have NBA potential. Those two are great players so if Treveon Graham turns out to be at least that good then I'll be happy.

Yeah, high school coaches tend to exaggerate a bit, but its nice to hear.

Nice find...it's always cool to hear about what our incoming student athletes are doin' on the hardwood. It sure would be somethin' to have a true frosh start from the get go for the Rams.

Great find. I have stayed up with him and the other 2 we have but did not see this article. Guys you can't forget about Reco. He was rated higher than Rob coming out but was just too weak to not redshirt since we were so deep. He will be great once he gets a little size to him.

Re: St. Mary's Ryken Knocks off Basketball Powerhouse DeMath

Thanks for posting, I meant to earlier when I saw the box score, but forgot. He had two 3 pointers include in his 29 points and Dunbar was the #5 rated team in the DC area. SMR is no longer rated although they are 14-7. He must be a stud and we are lucky to get him and I hope he realizes he is lucky to have us sign him.

Good match.

He is playing at the HS down the street from my house in a couple Fridays I may try and check him out. Take some pictures for the nation etc.

Re: St. Mary's Ryken Knocks off Basketball Powerhouse DeMath

Dang! I need to start paying closer attention to our recruiting. I live a mile from St. Mary's Ryken, so I'll definitely have to check him our before the season ends!

I believe the last DI player from Ryken was John Flowers at WVU.

His high school roster lists him as 6'5". I thought I read somewhere that he was 6'7"? Can't wait to see him in Black-n-Gold.

Rusty,

Every year we hear about a stellar recruit. Remember last year it was Reco, or perhaps Juvonte. Reco was supposed to start or push Brad close to A-A level? Didn't happen did it?

I expect the same for Treveon as well. He might have to redshirt given how much Reco progresses. Remember Reco most likely backs up Brad and Brad will be a Senior and barring injury will get at least 30 minutes a game next year. Shaka may play Brad at 4 but that is unlikely if Juvonte continues to improve and Toby steps up as expected.

However, if he plays up to expectation, can you imagine the 1, 2 punch he and Reco could become as Seniors?

I expect if any of the under clansmen start at the 3-4 along with Brad it will be Reco. We still have to work out Rob, Troy, and Darius.

Hopefully he exceeds expectation like Rob. However, I think it a long shot that he starts next year.

Your expectations and mine are quite different. It is true, the minutes will be few and far between because we have a lot of talent. I stand by my statement.
