State of the RamNation

What Joey needs to stop doing is trying to throw the alley-oop pass to Larry Sanders. I just can't do it. He tried one in the second half Saturday at a critical point in the game and threw it off of the backboard. Larry had no chance to get it. The only player I have seen this year that can consistently throw the allye-oop pass to Larry is Brandon Rozzell.

While he played SG for us up until this point I believe we recruited him as a PG out of H.S. Its not like hes a natural SG that is forced to the point in my mind he was a natural point forced to the sg and is now moving back to his natural position.

He is a SG, we recruited him as a PG but thats not him. Watching games this year Joey has a shoot first mentality.

Who knows in HS he could have been the same way. But for a player that wants to prove all of us wrong about him being a true PG jacking up threes 5 seconds into the shoot clock isnt the way to go about it.

I'd be happy if Joey never shot the ball again while he is playing the point guard position. He can't create his own shot very often, most of his shots are created by one of the 2 guards driving and kicking to him.

His hand has been hurt all year. I'm sure that has had an effect on his sketchy shooting. Maybe its gotten to the point its time to let it heal.

Joey Rodriguez IV practice then mri

This is based completely on observation, but I can remember multiple times during the W&M game Joey holding one of his wrists (his left I believe) with a grimmace on his face. I didn't notice this until the second half and didn't think too much of it becuase he didn't take himself out and it didn't appear he let the bench know something was up. Also I'm sure that final inbounds play, where Joey obviously got fouled taking that charge didn't help. Looked like Joey fell back and braced his fall with his hands.

I watched the replay on Comcast and missing that call was goshdarn awful. Those refs really had a terrible game, misseing plenty of calls (both ways), and swallowing their whistles at crucial momesnts, which ultimately cost us the game.

Joey started the game with his hand taped. Sometime during the first half, he took the tape off of his hand and you could tell it was bothering him, particularly in the second half. My question is, if his hand was hurting him, then why keep shooting? Pass the ball to someone with good hands. And I will also come back to that alley-oop pass. What a horrible pass.

I agree that the one in the W&M game looked bad, but I think that was the only one that Joey has thrown up and Larry hasn't been able to connect on all year.
