Still getting a vote

nothing strange about it. if you look at the dates you will see why. the espn poll hasnt been updated since the 20th, while the SI one says today.

How do we beat number 17 Oklahoma, who only dropped to 25, and we loose a vote? We were getting 2 votes last week if I am correct, and now down a vote???

For us to be ranked, i'd say we'd have to go 12-1. Honestly, I went from thinking 5-5 in first ten games to
7-2. (not including W and M game) Then 14-4/13-5 in the CAA. That puts us at lets just say 22- 6. (we'll win Brackbuster) and still we won't be ranked, but just outside. It will come down to gettin into the CAA Tourny final. Either win it or lose that game we still might get at-large with 24-7 record.

Western Michigan

Though I wonder if this is also due to lack of coverage. I mean this is a poll of opinion. If they played up our victory more maybe we'd have more votes.

....so i guess it is about who you lose to.
probably not just who, but how... if we had fought a close battle and just been edged out by a home team, that would have been one thing, but we were way up and then collapsed... that kind of thing tarnishes a lot more than a simple tick in the L column

hard to say, but I doubt it would make much difference... probably not more than a few votes... and when you're talking about those last teams on the 'others' list... the ones getting under a dozen votes... you're really looking at the teams that certain voters have adopted as their pet projects (e.g. Feinstein giving American a vote in recent seasons). Sure, getting a vote or few can help get the attention of the other voters eventually, but it probably shouldn't be seen as all that much of an accomplishment in and of itself.

we are 2-1...and we lost to WMU that doesn't exactly get me excited to put u in the top 25. I mean I love VCU but if I was a voter I think I'm going to lean more towards maybe an undefeated record?

I meant it as more of food for thought than as a complaint. With the NCAA system as it is right now, I don't think the CAA will ever more than a two bid league at best. We will have our moments in the sun (2004 etc...) but look at the Missouri Valley now. They've dropped back down to earth. Thus I think it is more than imperative that we win the tourney and not really rely on an at large bid. It is just interesting to see that this is a popularity contest somewhat. Even losing badly to us, OU is still not out of the Top 25. We are a team that one poll says that is not deserved of a top 25 spot, yet OU, a team that loses to us is. I'm merely pointing out an inconsistency in the interpretation of the top 25 poll. Now I don't think that we should be in the top 25 but I think 1 vote is a poor showing.

VCU just needs to keep winning.....we gotta a longgggg season ahead.

Exactly, we have a long season to go and many more key games to play, but it all will come down to consistency and how well we can keep up the momentum and ram it to the other teams. Everything will take care of itself, just gotta keep the passion and heart going for the next dozens of games.

I know we all hate ODU and for good reason. But how sweet would it be for ODU to get ranked and then come to The Stu for a ass kickin'.
