Should VCU conform to a truly gold color, or keep going strong with the tangerine yellow?

I like the tangerine yellow, but my only thing is calling it gold. What do you all think?

I did feel like I was picking out swatches or something - HAHA!

I think it's a good question, though. You look up "VCU" on the web and you see a million different shades of gold.

The consistent use of color plays an important role in establishing credibility and strength throughout the identity system. Established color relationships give appropriate emphasis to each element of the identity.

Interesting. We've been using Gold PMS 116C for years, fyi.

Even with those standards, look at our website - there are like 4-5 different shades of "gold" on that page. The closest thing to our "VCU gold" to me is the Barnes & Nobles ad (eyeballing it). Everything else to me looks yellow (especially that header!).

I just wish we could conform everything to one gold, everywhere. We could always call it "VCU Gold" or "Ram Gold", like MU Gold (Missouri). :) Can't wait to see if the new site does that.

For those interested in comparing, the HTML color code for PMS 116C is #FCD116.

Just keep on winning. I like the version of yellow/gold on the big NCAA banners hanging in the Siegel Center.

I thought the same thing vcudan-next we're gonna do a survey on the color of Black we need to use and as a grand finale, we're gonna watch gold and black paint dry per live stream! I can't hardly stand it!

I have every one of these shades of gold, except the metallic color, in the myriad number of VCU tees, polos, sweatshirts, hoodies and accessories. I love to see that sea of gold, yellow' or what you will, in the SC for home games. It really pops on TV and certainly adds to the atmosphere and helps make our place special.

Hey, by the way, anyone like me and tired of this incessant heat and longing for those cold crisp nights and walking toward the SC for a big game?

This.

I think it was after the ODU game...we drove in the blizzard to the SC, ate at 5 Guys, and then slogged it into the SC for a GREAT game. We get out, the sun is setting, no clouds, but it was like 3 degrees outside...having just whooped ODU, I felt like we was on the beach!
