Sweep in the TED

Can someone find out when the last time was that both the Men's and Women's basketball team won at ODU in the same year?

Before last season the we hadn't beat the ODU women at home in over 30 years I think, so it has been at least that long. Never happened in the Ted obviously. Great week for VCU basketball!
 
Ya I had heard that earlier and found out that we weren't much better against the Lady Monarchs at home either during that stretch. We've won two in a row against them now and hopefully the Men continue their streak next year. I'm willing to bet it hasn't happened in at least 40 years because of that 30 year drought the Women had
 
Yeah I think this is the first time both VCU's men and women beat ODU at the Ted in basketball. Pretty neat!

What is more significant is that Wendy Larry was at 599 career wins going for 600. Courtney Hurt and the Lady Rams got in the way of their big planned celebration though. :) She's having a heckuva junior season.

For the men, this was probably the first really solid win of the season. ODU was a legitimate top 25 RPI team prior to this game. To put it in perspective, beating ODU likely helped us more than any bracketbuster matchup we could have gotten this year. In fact ODU is the top home team in the bracketbuster field to this point. We did a very good job executing our game plan and getting it done on both ends of the court without Brandon Rozzell.

Lots to be proud of.
 
Women's basketball at VCU is fast developing into a solid program thanks to Beth. She is becoming a solid coach. No longer :D :lol: does ODU dominate in basketball. This has been a great week for basketball at VCU!
