The initial GOAZCATS.com AD Hot Board has Chris Del Conte at the top due to his ability to fundraise and his previous connections to Arizona. There are new names that can emerge in the upcoming days, but candidates like Del Conte, Mike Bobinski, and Norwood Teague seem like they are strong possibilities.

Arizona's AD Jim livengood is going to be the new AD at UNLV. His contract was not going to be renewed at Arizona. Norwood and Arizona's president Dr. Shelton were together at NC. Anyone heard any rumors???

If this does happen, would be interesting to see who they bring in in respects to the whole football at VCU thing

No, it won't. In the last few years, VCU dodged several cuts while other state schools had their sails trimmed. This isn't possible anymore. Considering we have one of the lower CAA donor bases as is, and that the VA budget gap is almost 12%, football is a non-starter for at least the majority of the next decade. I know this horse has been beaten to death, and then beaten some more, but there's simply not the money for it. I know a favorite reprise of football enthusiasts is the "if you build it, they will come" line of reasoning, but the reality is that football is a financial loser even when state budgets aren't tight.

This would be a pretty big loss for VCU in my mind. If it did happen I wonder if we would go for an outside hire or promote in house.

Agreed, but I would prefer an AD that has plans for the future not one that has a short term plan. Nobody is talking about in the moment

I'd think Norwood would want to improve this before he left...beyond the 1000 RAF member goal...that would be a nice line on the resume.

The foreseeable future is round ball. Establish a Gonzaga of the East and build a new, vastly more costly program on its success if such success is even achieved. The scatter gun approach aimed at existing athletic programs and costly startups, when the GA and incoming Gov are going to be borderline hostile to bolstering VCUs budget let alone athletic programs, isn't helpful to our current programs and cripples the pursuit of a robust football program. We're 10-15 years off, IMHO, from even beginning to approach where we need to be for developing a sustainable football program.

I think its kind of cool that our AD is considered for a Pac-10 school. I have new respect for the guy. I also wondered what he thinks about VCU Football, the conference affiliation and the future of the CAA tourney in Richmond.Like we talk about here. It's about time for a sitdown interview hint hint..

Oh. And Merry Christmas Coach!
