I'm intrigued by the teams appearance in travel/shoot around. I don't think I've actually seen any team like this.

In today's shoot around (per VCU's insta page) a lot of the team isn't wearing VCU gear, folks are wearing different shirts, different shorts etc. Not here to be the fashion police but any insights? Would be one thing if folks weren't wearing the same VCU gear, but I haven't seen (and i follow the sport like a hawk) too many teams that look like they've rolled off the playground.

Even if it has nothing to do with our play on the court, it just looks sloppy and non cohesive, but part of me also thinks its part of a bigger/sloppy issue. While we're on a nice winning streak, I don't think we've reached our potential.

Regardless--here's to a good performance tonight.

Seriously? Who cares what they wear when they travel or during shoot around?

I see many of different teams/programs on all levels of sports do different things during warmups/shootaround/practice & Travel.

People care too much about appearance & less about whats important.... team chemistry, the play on the court, coaching... etc. Those have nothing to do with how you dress in warmups, shoot around, practice or traveling.

It's not like the players are going out there wearing uniforms that haven't been washed in 3 weeks, or uniforms that look like someone rolled around in a mudpit or something like that.

What's next? You're gonna complain about players not wearing the exact same shoes? Or you're gonna complain that the players don't have the exact same hair style?

Get over yourself

You have to accept the youth consciousness. And if it's not broke...

Woooooooaah now everybody.....relax....everyone breathe....I think what @Yosi Ram meant (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) is that...traditionally...when college teams travel/do walkthroughs/etc....they tend to wear matching team gear/warm ups and the like. That's been my experience in airports and hotel lobby's and whatnot.

But @BaNgMyPrOgRaM is probably right...it's probably a "wear what you're comfortable in" kinda thing. I personally would mandate 1980's style warmups with the tear away button pants....do they still use those??

In my glory days of high school soccer, we had an away OOC game against a pretty highly regarded team. We start warming up, and they come out in brand new matching Nike warmups. Matching bags. Looking official. We had no matching anything, and we also had some off-brand uniforms that doubled as field hockey jerseys on whatever website the school ordered them from. We were jealous and a little intimidated. We ended up handling them 4-2.

But with that being said, I do think it's weird some guys don't warm up in the team gear. You get this nice free Nike gear and some of them are warming up in some clothes they pulled out of their old dressers. We would've killed for cool warmups.

I'm actually a little surprised by the vitriol but can deal with it. I do appreciate Half-baked's and balldont lie's support HA!

The fact is it's unusual at a practice not to wear team gear or travel with some semblance of a uniform. As someone who has seen about 100 VCU games over the last 10 years and average going to 25 college basketball game's a year it's not the norm. I would say hair etc. is different.

If nothing else it's a break from the norm of the past 5 coaches

It's not the norm???
As Rowdy said, get over yourself.
Rowdy has seen 6 times as many games as you and he's half my age (I've seen more).
I watched UCLA in Philadelphia on and off the court. I watched Duke in Buffalo on and off the court. I watched Kansas in San Antonio on and off the court. "It's not the norm" - you don't know what you are talking about.
Go troll another board.

Putting it that way, it's a good question. Still
