Team apparel in practice/travel?

I just saw the offensive Instagram post and most were wearing VCU gear of some sort. Those that weren't were wearing plain gear. It is a walk through which is essentially practice on the road. Who cares what they wear in practice? When they come out tonight for shoot around and then warmups they will all be in VCU gear. Some like to wear shorts and some prefer pants but other than that it will all be uniform.

It's not the norm???
As Rowdy said, get over yourself.
Rowdy has seen 6 times as many games as you and he's half my age (I've seen more).
I watched UCLA in Philadelphia on and off the court. I watched Duke in Buffalo on and off the court. I watched Kansas in San Antonio on and off the court. "It's not the norm" - you don't know what you are talking about.
Go troll another board.
Personal attacks.webp

I'm intrigued by the teams appearance in travel/shoot around. I don't think I've actually seen any team like this.

In today's shoot around (per VCU's insta page) a lot of the team isn't wearing VCU gear, folks are wearing different shirts, different shorts etc. Not here to be the fashion police but any insights? Would be one thing if folks weren't wearing the same VCU gear, but I haven't seen (and i follow the sport like a hawk) too many teams that look like they've rolled off the playground.

Even if it has nothing to do with our play on the court, it just looks sloppy and non cohesive, but part of me also thinks its part of a bigger/sloppy issue. While we're on a nice winning streak, I don't think we've reached our potential.

Regardless--here's to a good performance tonight.
Excuse me sir, I am the resident schizo poster round these parts.

Honestly tho, love your dedication to the team. Go rams!

I'm actually a little surprised by the vitriol but can deal with it. I do appreciate Half-baked's and balldont lie's support HA!

The fact is it's unusual at a practice not to wear team gear or travel with some semblance of a uniform. As someone who has seen about 100 VCU games over the last 10 years and average going to 25 college basketball game's a year it's not the norm. I would say hair etc. is different.

If nothing else it's a break from the norm of the past 5 coaches

Yosi
My only issue is how could you possibly be surprised by the vitriol?lol

Because I think it's a fair point that could a team that doesn't dress a like or care enough to put on VCU gear to go to practice also be a team that has suspect defense or in close games struggles. Could it also be a team that comes out flat against Loyola. Could it be indicative of a team that struggles with details in clutch time. I remain convinced in my belief that the sum of the parts has not yet equaled the talent. I hope I'm eating my words in a month saying I'm silly.

Someone commented they can wear what's easy or feels good. That's a stupid analogy. I'd love to go to my desk job wearing my Nike sweatpants and a VCU hoodie but I can't. There are certain dress expectations for a job. I don't think dressing as a team for practice is a big ask.

I remember when I was on my high school basketball team how exicted the team was to dress up whether it be in suits or our wearing polos to school on gameday.

Is the post nitpcking or out of box maybe--but is it a troll or outlandish definitely not.

They’re professionals in a sport where the NBA made the bowels of arenas into surrogate red carpets. Like it or not, the players are contractors, some may love the school, but it’s no longer a requirement to fake it either.
