This season, Turner, a three-year starter for the Knights was chosen as the Lackawanna Division I and The Times-Tribune Player of the Year after leading his team to a second straight District 2 Class AAAA title.

He scored 17.1 points per game and moved into second place on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,386, trailing only Lamar Johnson, who scored 1,572.

A top prospect in the northeast, Turner has received scholarship offers from Penn State, Virginia Commonwealth, Temple, St. Joseph's and Drexel.

"I am just taking everything a step at a time," Turner said. "I just wanted to win every game this season and to get better every practice. We came together as a team and had a great season. This is not just an award for me, it's the team. They help me to do the things out on the court."

I've been sending info to Coach Rhoades on this guy for over a month and hoping they recruit him. He quick and handles the ball well and I think could be a PG with a little work, he also averages 5.5 rpg and 3.4 apg.

One issue is he lost sight in one of his eyes in a basketball game accident.

Hey... as long as he has two functional legs, two functional arms, and can play then I'm all for recruiting this guy!

I'm no eye doctor, but loss of one eye prevents normal depth perception, which I would suspect would have great impact on shooting range. However his accomplishments on the court would suggest he has accomodated in some way.

Let me restate that... if this kid can play at an exceptional level as it would appear on paper with only one functional eye, why not recruit him?

At one time William and Mary had a guard that was totally deaf. He ended up playing professional baseball.

maybe it's insensative of me to say so.... but how badass would it be to have a player sporting an eye-patch?

That would be perfect..at Seton Hall or EZU. But continuing with that theme we could "board" the opponent's "ship" with grapling hooks and culasses after we had raked the decks..er stands, with grapeshot. How fun would it be to make the opposing coach to walk the plank. Then there's always the rape and pillage thing, you know, pirate booty.

Art, I hope you're still on Dayquil, because I'm trying to give you one heck of a fantasy.

Oh, it is definitely insensitive, but rather funny.

OK, Jack Aubrey as head coach
Stephen Maturin, team physician
Leftenant Tom Pullings, assistant coach

Joe Plaice, center
Barrett Bonden, point guard
Preserved Killick, small forward
Awkward Davies, power forward
Nehemiah Slade, guard
And the crew of the HMS Surprise on the bench.

A Letter of Marque from Governor Bob McDonnell and not only will we beat ODU, we will kill their entire team, hang Blaine Taylor from a yardarm, and claim the Ted as a prize.
