Sorry in advance, if this has been done in the past few weeks. I did not see it, if it was. Anyway, we all get bored right before the NFL, and VCU basketball seasons, and the long hot summer this year has been no different, in that regard. Maybe even worse this year!! That said, let's begin our normal pre-season speculation, and see what we've got here. I'll take a crack at it:

P/G Rodriguez / Theus
2/G Rozzell / Ed Nixon / Troy Daniels
S/F Burgess / Daniels / McCarter / Nixon
P/F Jamie Skeen / Toby Veal / Reddic
C Juvonte Reddic / Toby Veal / DJ Haley

* My first (4) men off the bench are Theus, Nixon, Veal & Daniels
* And that's my basic rotation. McCarter & Haley are HUGE wild-cards. Their status could obviously change,
and that's obviously going to change the rotation a lot. Sounds like a lot of guys believe that Reco will be in the mix this year for sure. Some say he's that good already. I guess we'll find out! And Heath Houston & Brandenburg seem to be the bigger question marks for me at this point. Injury / Body / rotation, etc. But that could change drastically too, of course. What do you cats think?

i would personall have:

PG Rodriguez
SG Nixon
SF Burgess
PF Skeen
C Veal

with Theus, Reddic, Daniels, and Reco being the main backups behind Rozzell. the reason why i have Nixon ahead of Rozzell is that it seems that Rozzell thrives when he comes of the bench. regardless whether or not he starts, he will still get a lot of minutes. i would start Veal ahead of Reddic because Veal has more experience

Based upon what I've heard from people that have seen some of the newcomers play on campus, Veal is almost a certain starter. "Man among boys" is one description. Although a slightly undersized power forward, I hear he is relentless on the boards and takes pride in his defense. Lots of stick backs, baby hooks, etc. so don't expect him to be hoisting up 20 footers.

Whats the over-under on the number of times Shaka subs players during the VUU game?

Probably the most realistic. At least early on. We all love Brandon. I do as well. However, Ed was the starter at the end of the season not Brandon and you are correct Brandon thrives off the bench.

However, I do not think we play the traditional 1-5 lineup. We wont have a center until we insert Reddic or Haley.

It will be very interesting to see how we defend JMU and their big juggernaut the USS Bowles.

or attack him and get him into foul trouble.

This, and play at such a high tempo that Denzel gets stuck at mid-court, not sure which way to meander.

this....play so fast he never makes past the top of either key...lol
nevermind..i think I just repeated Pav...is it still August?

Yep- That was actually my second choice for a starting line-up, and actually, may be the more realistic starting 5. I am having some fun with the Reddic at Center "thing." and he may be our best center right this second. Then again, so could DJ. I guess we won't know for several more weeks. But Veal is probably the most "ready" guy to insert in that line-up. I feel like he's a true 4 man.... but he may have to get it done for a little while until the young big's are ready to roll. I love the idea of Juvonte and / or DJ rolling in there off the bench.

As for the 2-guard spot.... who knows how that gonna shake out. but the truth is, Ed and B-Rozz are very interchangeable, and actually, they are very complimentary, in that they are different types of players. We are fortunate to have them both at our disposal, and they are both going to be huge contributors for this year's edition of the Mighty Rams. We are set in the back-court... as usual. And set at the 3 and 4 spots. The pivot is the only question, at this point. And there may be a real surprise or two, once we get this thing going!

I think you are spot on with our comment.

You took the words right out of my mouth. Everyone loves B-Rozz, but Ed is fun/interesting to watch on the court as well. He impressed me at the end of last year. If anything puts Ed on the court before Brandon it's his high energy defense. I guess it all depends on who is on that day. I can't wait for this season to start up! :D

I like Ed too, but how many points did he score in the two games against St. Louis and how many did Brandon have????
