Would have been kinda cool hiring the lead singer for Green Day to be the head coach for Green Bay.

Why does everyone think this is a big issue? The guy played P-5 college basketball and has been around college basketball all of his life. It's not like he is getting a P-6 job out of the gate like Patrick Ewing did. It's Wisconsin - Green Bay! If he hires the right assistants, you guys are going to be surprised at what he accomplishes. He also brings a "brand" name to Wisconsin - Green Bay basketball. I have no problem with this hire for a mid major Horizon League school.

I work in Green Bay. Everyone here thinks it’s very odd. I pay minimal attention to UWGB, but I don’t see a down side tho. Best case scenario he does well and bolts for a bigger school. Worst case scenario, it doesn’t go well but it brings their name up in the spotlight and they remain an inconsistent low major team. The women’s team has been much better over the years. Bo’ Ryan’s son Will was the coach for 2.5 years before being fired and won a total of 16 games when Sunny Wicks came in for a season and went 18-14 then bolted. If Doug improves on that, he will be on to bigger things too. They have had some talented players over the years. Tony Bennett most notably
 
Marquette's athletic director announced his retirement back on May 7th. I don't know how much truth there is to this tweet, but...
