The 2024 Offseason Thread

Also, sounds like VCU's freshman center Luke Bamgboye is going to play some minutes this year.
I think that is partly out of necessity, but I also think he will be able to give us some valuable minutes in rim protection this year. Trial by fire for sure. Heh, I think next week we will add another player to our recruiting class. There is a lot of positive energy around the program right now and I hope folks are still in the processs of buy season or game packages so as to be a direct part of this.

* Rodney Ashby was not baskful in presenting for the collective about NIL. To be better, to sustain, ... we must have the funds.

Was there any word on how we are doing with the collective?

I gather from any and everything available and descriptions of him, the dude just gets it. I am assuming there won't be much of an adjustment curve for Luke. He's competed against the best of the best at that level from which he comes.

Year 1 and year 2 of Odom's USU teams had a nice jump in wins and advanced metrics. I'm expecting a similar jump for us this season with all the returning experience we have.

It was that way at UMBC, too. Year 1 was great, year 2 they shocked Vermont with a Jairus Lyles buzzer beater, then beat UVA. Year 3 was okay enough (Vermont got revenge), but year 4 showed that recruiting in the AEC is feast or famine. Year 5 was COVID.

Does he normally wear all black, including a hat, to the games? He attends the games with his wife? Pretty big guy? If so ... wow ... he has sat three or four seats away from us for several years during games, and I had no idea. We've been friendly enough with this guy and his wife, and I noticed he was hard to recognize last night with no hat on and hair that looked like he just left the beach.
Yes. I probably should have said he looked like Laird Hamilton but I figured not many people would know he was a surfer. Maybe Ric Flair? Yeah, he looks like Ric Flair these days with that hair. Ha!

I don't know who Laird Hamilton is, but the Rick Flair comparison clinches it. Ramdog's seats at the Stu are right next to ours.
