The 2024 Offseason Thread

These young men need to rip the top bracket and stop worrying about all those tiles om top.

Well, Mike was the guy who sat down with him and suggested he needed some non-VCU, non-Shaka tree experience if he wanted a career in coaching. Supposedly was helpful in getting the Sienna (?) assistant job. Whatever you say about him as a coach, I think most of his players really liked him and he took care of them.

I'm glad Coach Morrell and the squad are okay. He played football in high school with Jason Witten and made sure Mo had a chance to meet Jason while he was at VCU. I imagine getting the chance to talk to an NFL tight end helped Mo!

Speaking of Mike Morrell...... I don't believe I ever shared this little nugget, but I might as well now..... Exactly 1 week after VCU lost to Saint Mary's in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, I was driving North on Harrison St and was stuck at a red light at Harrison & Grace. To my right I saw the whole VCU coaching staff eating lunch with Morrell at Roots (across from Village Cafe). I could tell it was Morrell because he had his UNCA jumpsuit on. I honestly didn't think much of it since Morrell and Rhoades had a previous relationship. Maybe he was in town for a recruiting visit? Anyways..... this was on a Friday and then 2 days later was Elite 8 Sunday when the first reports of a jet flying from Richmond to State College appeared on Twitter. Looking back.... I wonder if Rhoades was discussing the job with Morrell?
