The 2024 Offseason Thread

The general consensus is a good match. High defensive priority. Good offense. It sounds like the coach will retain current USU assistants, so there is a good chance the team's core will return, which is remarkable and unexpected. First player to return announced today, but he was one of the most likely to return anyway. Press conference tomorrow where the AD will introduce two new hoops coaches.
Obviously fit is important at any school, but anybody who can win at Youngstown State is a heck of a coach. It's a TOUGH job.

I think many are also left wondering why the AD seemed to exclusively hone in on Ohio-based personnel for both teams. Also, why not Chris Mack?

I saw them a couple of times this season. Very tough hardnosed basketball. Tempo may be a bit slower than USU is used to, but who knows, maybe that just fit the players he had at Youngstown.

Said in his press conference today that he wants to score in the 80s, so reasonably fast. I remember the Stew Morrill days at USU where they were one of the slowest most methodical and highest efficiency teams year over year - so everything is faster than that.

Yeah, I'm just think of the past few years with USU. He may be planning on playing faster at Utah State, but he was a bit slow in the games I saw (only two). I mean it wasn't like the tooth pulling lack of pace at UVa. but slower the USU.

Could it be Will Wade time in Arkansas? Looks like Musselman to USC is official.

Maybe or it could be a domino effect. For instance, Beard takes it and Ole Miss is open or Tang takes it and the Kansas State job is open.
Good point. Goodman has been trumpeting Beard to Arkansas since the Musselman to USC speculation started a little while ago.
