The 2024 VCU Hoops Black & Gold Scrimmage + Secret Scrimmage?

No players have worn #26 yet so here's a NASCAR picture. It's the right colors, at least.

#42, on the other hand...

This was likely in December, '78, when VCU defeated the Tribe in first round of TD Invitational ... Rams fell to ODU the next night .... my question: why did U.Va. and VPI ever agree to play in that event?
Roads were less well traveled. Tech and UVa were....as they still are....THE state schools. Richmond is capital (were legislators in session during TD tourney?) and it is sort of centralized from the north to the south. There may have been some push by legislatures too or requested by the schools as a recruitment vehicle.

Rams played in the TDIT from '76-'77 to '91-92 .... VCU took top honors three times ('80, '83 and '84) .... then there was the '87 triumph over U.Va. in consolation game ... also outsoared Tech in '80 and '84 .... what a tremendous asset having those schools (UR, UVa, VPI, W&M, JMU and ODU) coming to Rams' home court ... years later came the short-lived Governor's Invitational, also a Coliseum.

A few other No. 24 alumni - Keith Lawson, Darrell Reid, Edd Tatum, Carl Weldon, Antonie Willie.

RE Reggie Cain ... came to VCU from James Monroe High in New York as a package deal that included the much more highly regarded Greg McDougald .... Reggie is famous for hitting the two OT jumpers that helped the Rams defeat Minnesota in '70 ... Reggie was also the first VCU red shirt (Len Creech was redshirted in what would have been his senior season for RPI) .... Reggie remains among the top high-school hoop refs in the area (and almost surely the most in-shape) ... if you ever run into Reggie at a game he's working, don't be shy about saying Hi .... he'll be glad to see you.
