This afternoon in the following order iMHO are:

1. Jamie Skeen - what a great solid player he is. Clutch free throws at the end. Simply solid play.

2. Toby Veal - 4 minutes in the first half. I guess Shaka decided the whoopin we took was good enough - we needed a big number 2 who could REBOUND. What a great job Toby did in the 2nd hald. Sets awesome screens and will FIGHT on the court.

3. Ed "I will play all of my heart" Nixon - dude kept taking it to the basket. Wish we had seen more of that. Played his heart out.

4. Rob Brandenberg - 2 picks and 4 points - Bill and Mary was freaking out. They were afraid on the next possession. He is going to earn major minutes this season.

Argue away.

Rob is becoming my favorite player. The guy isn't afraid to take a tough shot but he has the confidence to take it. The guy never stops hustling and has great moves for a freshman. Also Rob doesn't seem to make too many mistakes. He seems to have a good understanding of the offense and opposing defenses so you rarely see him out of position or making moves on offense that could be costly to his team. Always nice to have a calculating player on the floor.

I thought these threads had gone away... Toby Veal #2 gimme a break. We obviously weren't watching the same game.

Rob has an elite skill set. Unbelievably quick and fast. Long and gets into the lane with ease and takes it to the rack with authority. IMO, he is already one of the top five defenders on the team. If he develops a consistent outside shot, look out!

Seniors or not, that kid may be starting before the year is out-took a roughing up from coach on the missed dunk for slowing down to show boat dunk I think. If he had just laid it in ,the defense wouldn't have caught him to foul, but he did make them both. He didnt like the coach coming down on him at all.
He is scary on defense with those long arms-whew-as someone else said, he is becoming a favorite of mine.

You might compare college basketball to NASCAR ...

There are the guys who wash the car; the guys who pump up the tires; the guys who tighten the lugnuts; the guys who gaze into the engine and fan the smoke; the guys who who pump the gas ...

And then there are the drivers, the guys who run the show ...

That would be Joey Rodriguez, No. 12, from Merritt Island Fla, Fort Howell High School

If the son of Joe and Annette Rodriguez isn't "best player on court," he is certainly the Most Valuable ... the rest are basically the "pit crew" - valuable but interchangeable.

Saw coach giving him a 'pep-talk' after that...good thing he made those FT's...RB is going to be huge for us...

The fact that that the original post went 4 players deep, and still didn't list Bradford Burgess, is a joke.

Agreed...but need to get him more shots.

Also, I wouldn't have had Veal in there, but I thought that he was solid defensively and hustle wise.

Agreed Brad perhaps was a bit to unselfish. However, he was perfect from the field, hit a timely three, got 2 blocked shots, tied for game lead in rebounds, got a steal, banged his knee returned to play hard. Not to mention he plays inside on D and outside on O (which is very difficult, VERY) and yet he isn't in the top 4?

WOW! let me say it again Brad is the best player on the team. Joey is the MVP. But Brad is the best.

As to Rob, he played hellacious D with those steals but he did rookie out on the dunk, he hit his threes but as the guy sitting next to me stated he cost us a point on the and 1. In a tough game you can't do that. Also, Rob bumping, Joey, Brandon, or Ed? Come on Seriously. Statements like that is why I shake my head sometimes.

I can see Brandenburg taking minutes from both Theus and Daniels but those three please. Remember he was 1-4 from the floor with a turnover. Oh and before you guys think I am bashing the kid. I am not. I love his enthusiasm, hustle, and heart and am oh so happy he is on the team and has three more years.

Dam mad, you speak of the stats that don't look good-he played nine mins, had 4 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and led the surge that put us ahead for good. Joey, Brandon and ED had 3 rebounds and 4 steals in 92 combined mins. He makes things happen and is always around the ball.

And Mad I do get it-you assumed Rob did not have the talent to get significant mins with what we had coming back without seeing him play, did you not? You can't bullsh*t a bullsh*tter ole buddy-I have too much experience on you-lol

1) Jamie Skeen - The guy makes shots EVERYWHERE. Can really do it all. Only negative stats were only 1 turnover and 1 foul in 33 minutes.

2) Bradford Burgess - Perfect from the field, 7 rebounds, a HUGE 3 that really put the game out of reach (coupled with those big free throws by Jamie). He's just such a skilled player, would love to see him penetrate more.

3) Rob Brandenburg - I know we've talked about Nixon's defense for years, but Rob has been really impressive in one-on-one situations (and I've got the highlights of steals into fast breaks to prove it). I hope this isn't like an Eric Maynor freshman situation where he didn't get the minutes he deserved, then came in as a sophomore and was electric. Dear coaching staff, can we use this guy now? He could be special.

Check your facts Mr. Petty... Joey is from Oviedo, Florida and went to Lake Howell High School. And I think Joey would tell you yesterday that those left turns were gettin tougher and tougher for him. All kidding aside, the kid is not healthy yet. Give him some time and he will be back in top form but yesterday he was not the best player on the court
