The best VCU player on the court tonight was...

Don't forget Brandon's two big shots. T.J. is the only player showing heart on a consisent basis. How great was it to see T back on the floor tonight?

Did anybody else see T and LS look at each other and grin ear to ear during that Richmond foul shooting series. That was the first time we had our two big men in the game simultaneously. I knew right then and there we were gonna pull out the win.

Larry and Terrance in the game at the same time looks very promising. The lane seemed to part like the Red Sea a couple times. Guys can't leave either one of them or it's an easy bucket. It's been a long time since we've had a couple of athletic big guys like them.

...'couple' + 1 from here out...life is good...

I really hope this thread theme continues to be one about not just who the 'best player was' but rather a debate on 'who the best players' were...love all the options.

Shades of '06-'07? That team was similar except the guards were more dominant and we didn't have a big post threat. Solid, reliable guys in Wil and Calvin, but not game-changers. Jesse Pellot-Rosa, B.A. Walker, Eric Maynor, and Jamal Shuler could go off on any given night, not to mention athletic freak Michael Anderson and Franck Ndongo at the top of the press.

We are even more balanced this year, with 6 different guys (Gavin (20-Oklahoma), Joey (17-Bethune-Cookman), Sanders (19-Rhode Island), Burgess (18-Hampton), T.J. (20-Richmond), Ed (18-W&M)) having lead our team in 8 games. Add Skeen into the mix and that number will soon be 7. We have some dominant go-to options in the paint for the first-time since Troy Godwin roamed these parts.

CAA fans must be incredulous that we are playing some of the best ball in the CAA after losing our best player of all-time after losing our coach last season. We are once again proving all the naysayers wrong. Way to go Shaka and the boys!

1- TJ ....Awesome Game
2- Terrance ..... Awesome S2nd Half Spurt. Killed their Bigs on both ends!
3- B-Rozz ..... Crushed them in final 6 minutes. Clutch.

I am waiting to see what Theus, Nixon, and BRoz can do with that open lane.

If this wasn't titled best player, I would have voted for Coach Smart and his staff for figuring out how to beat the match zone that held us to 20 points in the first half and allowed us to score 45 in the 2nd half.

Kudos to the coaching staff as well as the players.

The coaching staff was very big in this one. Feel free to start a "The best coaching staff in Richmond last night was ..." thread.

UofR already did that on their board....

"What is frustrating for UR fans, is that our coach who is now in his 5th season gets outcoached by a coach who is in his 8th game."
