The Official Beat the Bellarmine Knights in the Stu Thread

We could have done a lot worse. We could have hired a Pat Kennedy or a Dean Keener. Polio is a part of the VCU family, good coach or not and it was 35 years ago.
I have a memory like an elephant and I did not like some comments he made in a recent(ish) article. He claimed he got the JMU job but came to VCU which is totally incorrect because I knew Dean Ehlers and he did not hire Pollio. In that article he made some off base comments about VCU. Guy was an awful coach and he seems to have trouble with his memory.

What opportunity is missed from hearing Tubby Smith talk about how VCU looks nothing like it did when he was here?
Q: What is it like being back in this building?

A: I was never here.

Q: Did seeing Franklin Street Gym bring back any old memories?

A: It is gone.

Q: See any familiar faces?

A: Just @AlienAiden 's and it is not what it used to be.

I love to watch expedition VBLOGS on YouTube. There are hikers (if you call them that) in Antarctica that live VBLOG with better sound quality than our VCU basketball broadcast. Now, sometimes the pictures aren't so great, but the sound comes through crystal clear.

At this point I'm not holding out hope for this to improve. If you're bored enough to check my post history, I have waxed poetic about the production quality in years prior and I got some decent responses. I'm very thankful for the vast majority of our games being broadcast, but the quality is unfortunately not always the best. I remember watching Ram Replay in like 2007 on a first-gen Vizio TV I found in an alley for free on PBS and the video quality was literally the same, but I think the sound was better 😂. The sound in the Stu itself has also been a little subpar. During the videos some of the speakers were cutting in and out, and overall the sound is a bit distorted as if the gain is too high. The system is obviously loud enough, increasing it to the point of distortion/clipping doesn't raise the hype value, it just makes it a little cringe-inducing.

Further, even listening to the radio is extremely tiring as everything is just too LOUD, as in the apparent loudness, and the audio quality is poor. That means that even turning the volume down still gives you listening fatigue. The actual play by play / color audio is mostly okay, but the commercials are wildly loud. I had to stop listening to the first game in the second half because it was wearing me out.

I remember 50 years ago when I had to call the times dispatch to get scores. So I'm greatful for any video and audio. Anybody remember real player?

Ugh. Yes.

I just remember not knowing the score until the newspaper came out the next day, and back then you just got the box score because the RTD didn't really care enough about VCU to write more than a blurb.
I lived in Houston for about 5 years (87-94) and finding a VCU score the next day in the paper was somewhat hit and miss. Sometimes it was printed and sometimes it wasn't. Luckily, in 89' I was on the internet and joined something called the Cleveland FreeNet (CFN) which was a live chat system and there were users there from across the country who were willing to check their newspaper for the score...LOL
In 1993, a group of us from CFN, all decided to get together in Vegas for a 3 day weekend.....people we had never met or even seen. Had a fantastic fun weekend.
