The Official Beat the Elizabeth City State Vikings in the Stu on Black & Gold Friday Thread

He's been there since 2017. It's extremely unlikely he would leave for another job since he's an alum and has already had a P5 job (and made P5 money). Some of the lunatic fringe of their fan base regularly gripe about this since the perception is the AD isn't willing to move on from a Dayton guy - in actuality, they won't because Grant has a GREAT eye for talent and tons of NBA connections, which makes him pretty much the ideal coach there. His career arc is more or less what I'd want to see if we were to hire a former player as head coach one day.

Also I think we all know their fan base is only griping about not moving on from him.... because the 2020 post season never happened.... because if it had & Dayton makes a run to the Final 4 or even the Nat'l Champ. game like many suspected that team could of.... they would not be wanting to move on from him.

How long has Grant been At Dayton? Is Dayton afraid of losing him each year?
They want to keep him. But they have had some losing streaks where some of the fan base turn on him. But generally, I think they are pretty happy with him but just want him to get over the hump to be a sweet 16 or more.

Well, well, well…….UCONN takes it on the chin AGAIN! They lost to Memphis and now Colorado. They will play for 7th place in Maui against either Iowa State or Dayton.
Glad to see Hurley lose. Such a whiner. Great coach but always whining.

Some of the on-line Dayton folks may complain about him, but live in Dayton a few years and talk to the fans. The vast majority love the guy.

7th is the new first.
NET rankings care nothing about seventh place games .... Rams have bagged two ACC foes (including one that was '23 Final Four) on neutral floors .... worst the Rams could possibly do prior to conference is 9-4 .... probably 10-3 or 11-2 .... aside from at New Mexico and neutral vs. Colorado State, look for VCU to be at least double-digit (maybe close to 20) favorites in all other non-conference matchups. And what about poor Elizabeth City .... aka Holiday Turkey.

Put up 100...does the NET still like blow outs?

Certainly, there would be no credit for a home-floor slaughter vs. a weak D-2 .... But all the other non-conference home games, vs. D1's, could be over by halftime. In addition to packing the W column, this also skews individual stats upward. We can be sure the shooting percentages in buy games will be higher that legit road tests.
